Author L.E. Martin #interview

Please give a warm welcome to author L.E. Martin

Tell us a bit about yourself

Hi. I’m L.E. Martin but most people call me “Ellie” or “Marty”, those nicknames kinda stuck. I’ve been writing for over ten years now. I have four books out in my Laying it Bare series with another coming in April. I also have a Romantic Sci-Fi titled The Renters available. I work full time and write all weekend. I love to bake and wish I had more time to play the piano. I am a chocoholic and wished I lived somewhere warmer – I’m not a fan of cold and snow.

Have you always wanted to become an author?

I have always been a reader but just in the last ten years or so I have become an avid reader and the more I read the more I wanted to create my own stories. Ideas would pop into my head and I began to roll with it.

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

For my Laying it Bare series, it started out as a funny exchange of text messages between a friend of mine and me over getting a friend request from a really odd name with an anime picture for the profile. By the end of our texts, she told me I should write a story about that. I started writing and Laying it Bare with a Friend Request was born. And I now have 4 books out currently in that series (all stand-alones) with the next one coming out in April.

What are you working on now?

I have changed gears and am currently working on a paranormal romance about witches and demons. I don’t have many details yet as the book is still in its infancy. I also don’t know if it will be a solo book or turn into a duet or trio. I’m waiting to see where the characters take me.

Do you have any quirks while working?

Yes. I have to really force myself to stay put for long periods of time – even when the characters are excitedly talking to me. I swear I have adult ADD. It can’t be ADHD because I don’t have the energy to be hyperactive. But it not unusual for me to go bake something while I am writing. And then come back to it.

What are your hopes for the future?

I’m hoping to gain more readers and hope to get to meet them too at a future author signing. With COVID, the one I had been planning to attend was postponed. I would love to be able to interact more with my readers.

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

It’s a difficult and time consuming job but so worthwhile. Especially when you get those readers who really connect to your stories. Make sure you do your research and give your all for everything. Taking short cuts only ends up hurting you in the end.

Do you have anything to say to your followers?

Thank you for being a part of my world. I hope you love my characters as much as I do and hang around for the fun yet to come.
