Please give a warm welcome to author C.M. Wright
Tell us a bit about yourself
I’m a thirty-eight-year-old mom of three and I live in the UK. I used to work as a nursery nurse but after having my youngest and battling post-partum I had to reassess what was important to me. Now I get to do what I love while wearing pyjamas and I couldn’t be happier.
Have you always wanted to become an author?
Yes. I have always loved to write, ever since I was a young child, I just lacked the confidence to pursue it. One day I woke up knowing with absolute clarity that I would regret it for the rest of my life if I didn’t try. So, I wrote. I laughed, I cried, and I spent hours agonising over putting myself out there, but I never gave up. It’s an amazing feeling to be able to stand up and say, “I did it.”
What was the inspiration for your current series?
The Inheritance series was inspired by a conversation I had with a friend about whether or not money could buy happiness. As a result, each of my heroines in the three-book series will have to deal with the trials and tribulations that go along with having money and this provides the story arc that connects the otherwise stand-alone books.
What are you working on now?
I am currently working on book three in the Inheritance series and two short stories for anthologies due out later this year. I also have a secret project that I’m working on that I hope to get finished for the summer.
Do you have any quirks while writing?
I either have to have complete silence or music belted out at deafening decibels. There is no in-between with me.
What are your hopes for the future?
I hope to continue writing stories that people love with characters they take to heart. I can’t imagine doing anything else and I’m so grateful that I took that leap of faith.
Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?
I’m still a new author myself trying to figure it all out. The best advice I can give is to just write. Write a little, write a lot but whatever you do – write. Have faith in yourself and join groups of like-minded individuals because having friends to pick you up when you stumble is priceless.
Do you have anything to say to your fans?
What can I say? Thank you doesn’t seem like enough but it’s all I’ve got. Thank you for your unwavering support. Thank you for taking a chance on a new author and thank you for making time in your busy days to leave reviews. Each and everyone of you mean the world to me.
