Sara Gonzalez PA #interview

Please give a warm welcome to

Tell us a bit about yourself

Well, my name is Sara. I’m a Mom of three grown children, I’m and Author and a PA. My first published work was almost fourteen years ago. With more to come.
I’ve been a PA for almost a year.

Have you always wanted to be a PA?

Never even considered it until I had been hanging in a group of an Author i had come to respect. I had always had fun and then the opportunity came about and here I am.

What do you do as a PA?

These things vary, but schedules, editing, events, brainstorming, all aspects of admin. But also can’t leave out that we have an amazing admin team that helps as well and couldn’t imagine this job with out them.

Do you have any quirks while working?

I’m sure I do but nothing that stands out. Mostly certain things being done certain way. But again as a team we do this together.

What are your hopes for the future?

To see that my Author successfully succeeds as my Author will do the same for me. We all write and we all support each other. Its amazing!

Do you have any advice for new PA’s?

Insist on an open communication with your Authors. No lies no hold backs. A PA can not truly do their job well if their Author is not forthcoming with information needed and promptly. Create a bond, a good friendship even.

Are you available for new work or booked solid.

No, I’m committed to my work where I am. Totally booked. Two many hands in the pot creates a chaos not needed.

PA Izzy Hix #interview

Please give a warm welcome to

Tell us a bit about yourself

I am currently studying toward (hopefully) my PhD in Experimental Psychology. Now you may ask why the heck am I am PA. I love the author community. I also love numbers and love organization.  I kinda have a thing for spreadsheets. Like a REAL thing.  *fans self* I absolutely love to travel. I recently went to Amsterdam and I keep realizing how much I miss it there. I’m also kinda a yoga junky.  Basically, I’m a mixed up ball of random.

Example

How long have you been a PA?

I have been working as a PA for a long time now.  I normally work with small business owners but expanded into working with authors in the RH community last April. It has been amazing!!

Example

Have you always wanted to be a PA?

I’ve always loved helping people and I developed a skillset that helps me do that for my authors. PAing was an obvious fit for me.

What do you do as a PA?

Nearly everything. I think my favorite things are helping manage ARC teams and bookkeeping…yeah I know, crazy, right? Who likes numbers?? Me. I also help with promotion, managing readers groups, other social media, and more than I could list. Basically, I’ve worked in over 10 different industries so I have a lot of skills. Just ask and I can probably do it.

Example

Do you have any quirks while working?

I listen to books while I work. I also drink water like it’s going out of style. I don’t even realize how much I drink. It’s nearly a compulsion.

What are your hopes for the future?

Obviously with my pursuit for my PhD, working in research is my endgame but I don’t see that stopping my PA work. I love what I do and I love my authors as well as all the amazing readers out there.

Example

Do you have any advice for new PA’s?

Be organized…like overly so. Communicate. Don’t ghost people. Ask for advice. There are tons of us that do this so just shoot a PM to me and I’d be happy to give you some direction. In fact, I actually have interns to help those who want to explore the world of PAing in the reading community and I help show them the ropes. I’m a nut for helping people!

Are you available for new work or booked solid?

I am available. I love to help authors so just reach out!

Tell us a bit about yourself

A bit about myself, hmmm, this seems to always be the hardest of questions. Lets just start with the norm, I am mom of two daughters, who I homeschool. Yes, that means I am a stay at home mom! I married my best friend; we have been together going on 16 years. I am a pet lover and have loads (the hubs is not thrilled with this little quirk). I have for as long as can remember been an avid book lover, which lead to the best job ever. A few things people might not know is, I have a Master of Science in Psychology, I enjoy sewing or cross-stitching and I am a coffee addict…love the nectar of the gods!

How long have you been a PA?

I have had the absolute privilege of being called a PA for about 15 months! It is such a blast working with these wonderful ladies and assisting them in their careers.

Have you always wanted to be a PA?

Honestly, even as an avid reader for the last 30 years, it never dawned on me that one could be a PA for their favorite authors. I was still thinking of the old school or classic process of going through a publishing house. Yes, the thought is laughable, but I was more of a reader and less activate on social media. Once I gained social media, I realized that the indie author movement was huge, and got a glimpse of the process authors take to get their books to the masses!

What do you do as a PA?

As a PA I support my authors in any way that I can! An idea of what I assist with is helping create graphics, supporting during a takeover, recommending others to love their work as much as I do! I do my best to ensuring the author reader groups are fun and engaging. I also get the pleasure of reading their books and listening to audiobooks too! I will attend a few signings to support them through that process, BABE is going to be so exciting!

Do you have any quirks while working?

I do not have any unusual quirks while working, unless having a toddler in my lap while I create games or graphics a quirk!

What are your hopes for the future?

My hope for the future is to continue supporting my authors, they truly are amazing ladies with hearts of gold! My goal is to have a front row seat watching their career grow and prosper and I am thankful to be a part of it!

Do you have any advice for new PA’s?

My advice to new PAs or people who want to start PAing, is to be diligent and work hard for your author, because they become your author and not just an author. Be honest with them, let them know what you are or are not capable of creating or accomplishing. Do not hesitate to ask questions of them and other PAs, they have been here a bit longer! Be friendly and understanding of the readers, who are anticipating the next book, or signing or a plethora of other things from your author! My last bit of advice is simply to have fun and be loyal to who you are supporting!

Are you available for new work or booked solid.

I would love to say yes, I am available to take on more of the incredible authors out there, but at this time I am fully book with my fabulous authors!

My name is Josie, I’m 28 and I live in Western Pennsylvania with my husband, 2 dogs and 2 cats. When I’m not working my day job as a Certified Veterinary Technician or doing my PA duties, I enjoy reading (of course), video games, camping and kayaking.

°

How long have you been a PA?

Only for a few months.

Example:

°

Have you always wanted to be a PA?

Actually, no. I am new to this whole author/PA world only really getting immersed in it within the last year. I actually started as an ARC reader but got to talking to Ira Myriam one day and she told me that I should think about becoming a PA. She got me in contact with the right people and I haven’t looked back since. She has been amazing and a true blessing in my life.

Example:

°

What do you do as a PA?

Currently I am working with 2 bloggers and an author. I help with running their group pages; engagement, new posts, accepting members, welcoming members, closing and choosing winners for giveaways. I make various types of forms; takeover sign ups, ARC sign ups, prize claim forms, etc. I also promote books on various platforms. I also am slowly teaching myself to make graphics for various things (it’s a work in progress).

Do you have any quirks while working?

Does listening to 2000s emo music while working count? If so, that’s my only one.

°

What are your hopes for the future?

I am hoping to continue working with the awesome bloggers and authors I have, as well as possibly adding others. I also hope to get better at making graphics as I’m new to all of that.

Example:

°

Do you have any advice for new PA’s?

Don’t be afraid to take the plunge. I was terrified to become a PA at first and now I can’t imagine being one. Find a few friends in the PA community. There are so many amazing people who are willing to talk to you and help you out.

°

Are you available for new work or booked solid?

I am available.

I’m always trying to be better at what I do so for the future I want to keep learning so I can better myself in my field and be able to help many more author’s do what they love which is writting amazing stories for us reader’s!

Example:

°

Do you have any advice for new PA’s?

Have patience, it’s a big responsibility and make sure you click with the author’s! It won’t be easy and you will have hits and misses but don’t give up on yourself! And only do this is you really love the field and what it represents because if you do it will show in your work and trust me good author’s will appreciate all the work you do for them!!

Don’t be afraid to ask for help, I’ve been blessed to have met so many great people in this community which have become my family, if I’m not sure about something I always go and bug them lol but never be afraid to ask for help it doesn’t mean your weak just means your human!

°

Are you available for new work or booked solid?

Yes I’m always available for new author’s who need help and right now I’m not fully booked!

Sarah Klinger PA #interview

Please give a warm welcome to

How long have you been a PA?

Started July 2019 (about 4months)

Have you always wanted to be a PA?

I have always loved the idea of working as an assistant, but it wasn’t until recently that I found my true passion for being a personal assistant for authors. I have always been an avid reader so being able to not only support those authors but keep the chaos of their lives to a minimum is a perfect fit. The satisfaction of pulling off everything from a book release party to organizing the details of a book signing trip is unmatched. So while I haven’t always wanted to be a personal assistant for authors, I am so glad that I found this perfect fit.

What do you do as a PA?

I do many things. My main thing is to help keep authors fix their Chaos.

What do you do as a PA?

As a PA, my responsibilities are numerous. My main job is to fix the chaos of being an author and keep them sane! Lol. I think that each experience is different but I focus on creating teams of individuals to promote and push forward authors on their current projects, organize their goals moving forward, and keeping them motivated.

Do you have any quirks while working?

Yes, I have spreadsheets to organize spreadsheets

What are your hopes for the future?

To work with more authors and to help my authors grow and be successful.

Do you have any advice for new PA’s?

Build a relationship with other PA’s around you it is always great to share tricks and have someone who you can lean on for help if you are not sure how to do something.

Are you available for new work or booked solid?

I am available for new work.
