Graphic Designer Erica petite

Tell us a little about yourself

Hello, My name is Erica petit, I am self-taught freelance for 10 years in photo-manipulation. My world is dark and mysterious, also affecting fairy fantasy and gothic romance. I discovered the digital end of 2010 and so I have evolved in this area. I also create book illustrations in the style: Urban fantasy, paranormal romance and historical romance. Which my latest book illustration was published in a publishing house named “alter real” for author Seanan Mcguire, published in France.

°

Have you always wanted to become an artist / designer?

My school curriculum is quite chaotic. Being dyslexic and dysorthographic it was quite complicated level study. I started to design at the age of 19. For two years, I did a lot of volunteer design, to then discover Déviantart and how it works. I learned on the job. I then started designing cover. It must be seven years now that I make book illustrations for myself. I work with independent authors internationally and French publishers. Who is one day I would work with US editorial houses. (my dream).

°

°

Where do you find inspiration for your work?

My inspiration is often inspired by the urban fantasy universe – Paranormal Romance. It is according to my desires and my inspiration by seeing the stock photos.

°

°

What are you working on now?

At the moment, there is nothing special about premades. It happens to me to have empty periods “without requests for cover”

°

°

What are your hopes for the future?

I hope I can live one day, but I do not think it’s possible. I would also like to work with editorial boxes in the US not only in France.

°

Do you have something to say to your fans?

Looking forward to hearing from you and talking to you. 😊

Tell us a bit about yourself

My name is Melody and I’m originally from Hawai’i. I’ve bounced back and forth between Washington and the islands many times since most of my family resides there. My favorite color is red and favorite animal is a shark—yes, I’m serious. I got to see a baby one in the wild and Kamaole 3. It’s one of my favorite memories to date.

°

°

Have you always wanted to become a designer/artist?

Yes and no. I’ve always loved drawing and the arts. I do chibi commissions on the side because regular commissions are a ton of work and I want to be a in a better spot before I offer those. After a low spot in my life, I focused in on writing and was graced to become part of a community that also wanted my chibis. I then branched into designing out of necessity for my own covers. Immediately, I got positive responses from people. So, I continued and, since I had a very minor background in graphic design, it helped.

°

°

Where do you find inspiration for your work?

Most times, I look through unsplash.com. I know the ins and outs of licenses and I know what I can and can’t use free and paid images for. Mainly, most of my stock comes from Adobe. I don’t use shutterstock because of how restrictive they are for what you can use it for.

But back to the main question, my inspiration comes from just browsing. Sometimes and idea pops into my head and I have to search for all the components, but it’s mainly from beautiful photography.

°

°

What are you working on now?

TONS. A lot of the ones I have revolve around magic. There’s a shamaness. I have a couple fairy and fae ones. And if I’m being honest, I have a lot of ones on the backburner. Like…main image but nothing to go with it.

°

Do you have any quirks while working?

I either, and this goes with writing, have to have complete silence or non-stop pumped up music. Preferably no words.

°

°

What are your hopes for the futur?

I would like to have all my premades that I’ve already made, sold. Then, once that’s done, I would like to possibly open up customs to everyone. It all hinges upon my writing and the demand for the covers. If more people want customs from me, I’ll consider it. Right now, they’re on a case by case basis. I think Jodie Lynne is the only one who’s been approved.

°

Do you have anything to say to your followers?

Thanks guys! I didn’t realize I had any out there, but hi! I appreciate the support!

Graphic Designer Selfpub Designs #interview

Please give a warm welcome to Silvana

°

Tell us a bit about yourself?

Hi, I’m Silvana. I’m a cover designer but I’m also many other things: a wife, mother of precious twins, mother of Shih Tzus as well, a writer, a drummer, and an Ophthalmologist! Phew! Let me catch my breath, lol.

°

Have you always wanted to become an artist/designer?

Definitely. I’ve been inclined to the arts since a very young age. I started to treat art seriously when I was in high school. My biggest project back then was street painting a section of the Sistine Chapel (The Delphic Sibyl) for an ephemeral art exhibition. The judges liked it so much they preserved it!

°

°

Where do you find inspiration for your work?

Art in all its forms inspires me. Whether it’s music, an amazing film, or a fantastic illustration, I’m always discovering elements that I like to reinterpret and integrate into my work. I’m especially drawn to surrealism because it breaks the rules of reality and that gives me so much creative freedom.

°

What are you working on now?

I’m currently redesigning an author’s entire series, it’s a pretty exciting project that I’m looking forward to sharing soon. I’m also working on new designs incorporating 3D rendering scenes and models. Computer generated graphics are taking over the book cover arena, probably because of the wide variety of morphs and the endless possibilities it provides to us designers—3D models are more versatile than human models.

°

°

Do you have any quirks while working?

I listen to music according to the genre I’m working on. For instance, if it’s a dynamic cover with loads of action going on, I’ll listen to something by Korn or Disturbed. But if the design is high fantasy, I’ll play Tina Guo, Enya, or Saint-Saens… I have a pretty eclectic taste in music and work with a variety of themes and genres.

°

What are your hopes for the future?

I love working with authors and meeting their creative visions, and I hope to keep being part of their journeys as writers for a very long time. Expanding my knowledge in the field of illustration is something that definitely interests me, I’d like to get to a point where I am able to invest more time in developing my own designs… Working on it!

°

Do you have anything to say to your fans?

Um, hi!!! Lol. I really appreciate your support, especially those of you who’ve been there from the start!

Being a cover designer is more to me than a creative outlet; it’s the privilege of belonging to the most amazing group I’ve ever known: The Writing Community.

°

Thank you for trusting me with your visions, I look forward to being part of your writing journeys for many years to come!

BLOG TOUR – LITTLE NANI REVISITED

Image

Thank you for visiting this wonderful blog today so you can know a bit more about Little Nani, her stories, her world, and her author. OK, her author is not as interesting as Little Nani, but what can we do? They go hand in hand, so please bear with her.

Why are we here today? Because Little Nani is suffering a series of changes. “The Funny Adventures of Little Nani” was published for the first time last September 2012, both in print and in ebook form, on Amazon and Createspace. However, along the months, I started feeling less enthusiastic about my book, thinking that the cover was dull and boring, and also thinking that the stories could be improved, maybe going through some extra editing and proofing. So that’s what I did, and now I am much happier about the result and I trust that I will start getting many more sales. Why? Because I will make the books available not only on Amazon and Createspace, but also on Smashwords, Barnes and Noble, and Feed-A-Read.

There will be also many different options to buy the books. Do you want to buy the whole set of stories? You can do it. Do you want to buy just some stories, the ones you think you would like? You can do it too, since I will publish the stories individually on Smashwords. So you see, different options to match different customers, different readers.

Once all this is settled and the books are republished on all those retailers, I will start to do the same process with the second book in the Little Nani series, which will be available next Fall.

Follow the whole blog tour since I will be announcing all the news in the different blogs!

BLURB

Little Nani is a little girl who likes helping people. However, when she helps people the results can be a bit unexpected. Why is that? Little Nani is a witch! Or at least she wants to be a witch. With her magic wand, she will try to cast different spells to help her friends, but she won’t be successful all the time.

Follow Little Nani in her funny adventures and meet her extraordinary friends. Funny ostriches, horses that love reading, super-fast turtles, grumpy zombies… Little Nani has lots of friends! You can also draw your own characters!

Little Nani is willing to become a good witch. Will she manage to do it? Who knows? Read the stories and discover what happens next!

AUTHOR BIO.

Image

Cinta Garcia de la Rosa is a Spanish writer who has loved the written word since he discovered she was able to read books at age 5. Since then, she has become a bookworm and reads around 100 books every year. She also writes, every day, compulsively, even in the middle of the night. You cannot control when inspiration hits you, can you? She writes in English because she is convinced that in a previous life she was British, so writing in English feels more natural to her than writing in her native language. Yes, she is crazy like that. Cinta Garcia is the author of “The Funny Adventures of Little Nani”, a collection of short stories for children, and “A Foreigner in London”, a short story published on Smashwords. She is a member of Independent Authors International (iAi).

°

What are Little Nani’s future plans?

When I wrote the first Little Nani story on my blog, back in February 2012, I didn’t even have in mind the idea of writing a book. But when people started asking me if I was going to write more Little Nani stories, I couldn’t resist and wrote the book. Ten funny and lovely stories that are liked both by children and adults. Indeed, Little Nani only asks her readers to have a young heart. After writing this first book and seeing how much people like Little Nani, I decided to do more things with her.

°

So what are my plans for the near future?

First of all, I will finish the second book in the series, which will include another set of ten stories, equally funny and equally absurd. Little Nani will continue creating chaos where there is none. But who knows? Maybe she starts getting a bit better with her magic wand…

Another project I have already started is writing a series of stand-alone short stories featuring Little Nani and some others of the characters in Book One. These stories will be special. Why? Because I am writing choose-your-own-adventure stories. Yes! The reader will choose what Little Nani will do next, creating a series of possibilities for the story to finish. I think that since the books will be more interactive, the readers can get more engaged with them and like them better.

So those are the plans I have already set for the future. Are you excited? I am!

Thank you, Helle, for letting me take over your blog today!
