Tell us a bit about yourself

Hi, everyone! I’m Penelope Woods, a dark romance author.

Have you always wanted to become an author?

Yes, from the beginning, I’ve always dreamt of becoming a writer. I started with erotica, but I always had a hankering for darker sci-fi, so I decided to blend the two in my own unique way.

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

Oh my gosh! Well, for starters, I’m a big rom-com gal. I’m also a huge horror and sci-fi nerd. I LOVE aliens, strong men, and scenes that make your heart pound!

What are you working on now?

My newest novel His Hostage is up for pre-order on Amazon right now, actually. It’s a dark contemporary romance. After that, I have a few sci-fi novels coming out in February.

Do you have any quirks while writing?

I’m full of quirks, but when I’m writing, I’m fairly focused. Well, except for when I’m mindlessly browsing facebook LOL.

What are your hopes for the future?

I can only hope the world mends itself. I want everyone to find love and happiness in their lifetimes.

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

Write your first book! Write your second. Write your third. When you’re absolutely sure you can’t write another book, write a fourth. You are unstoppable, and you will conquer your dreams!

Do you have anything to say to your readers?

Thank you for becoming a new fan. It means the world to me. And, please, stay in touch! Send me an email every now and then.

Author Nora Ash #interview

Please give a warm welcome to fellow Dane and author Nora Ash

Tell us a bit about yourself

I’m a 34 Dane who fell in love with a Brit and moved to England nearly a decade ago. I have two cats, because my mean fiancé refuses to let me give in to my cat hoarding tendencies, and if I ever win the lottery I’m moving us all into the Swedish forests and getting at least five horses.

Have you always wanted to become an author?

Yes. I used to write thousands of pages in secret, just for myself. But I never thought I’d actually get to fulfil my dream, so I went to university for a super serious Business degree, and even did Masters. It never felt right, though. I was never happy. While I finished my Bachelor, I started writing fan fiction, and the amount of joy I got out of that process eventually made me realize that I needed to change my life. I’ll forever be thankful to the kind readers on fanfiction.net who encouraged me to publish my own work.

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

I usually jump between series, so I’m just going to talk about my latest release, Ragnarök Rising.
Because of my Scandi roots, I’ve grown up with the stories from Norse mythology as part of everyday life. Roads and landmarks were named after gods and Jotunns, my high school was located in a town known for its Viking museum, and my favorite comics as a kid followed Thor’s human servants as they ventured through Asgard and beyond. (The Valhalla comics by Peter Madsen)
Because of this, I’ve always felt deeply connected to Norse mythology, and I knew I wanted to write a story about them. But because Thor’s already married according to the mythology, I couldn’t really round him and the other gods up and give them a new girlfriend! So, their sons were up instead.

What are you working on now?

I’m working on a continuation to my very first serial, Demon’s Mark. It’s called Prince of Demons, and it’s about a girl who can see demons for what they are, and a deal she makes to save her brother. Also, there’s lots of magic, filthy sex and general mayhem, of course!

Do you have any quirks while writing?

No, but my cats do. If I’m working, they insist on sitting on my keyboard. Never when I’m just faffing around on the internet. I had to put a box on my desk to distract them from their evil scheme.

What are your hopes for the future?

I hope I can keep writing forever. We’re currently looking at buying our first home, and the mortgage people asked me when I plan to retire. The answer is never. I never want to retire, because putting stories into the world brings me so much joy.

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

Don’t measure yourself after anyone else’s goals. Sometimes we forget the sheer magic of what we’re doing, sometimes it doesn’t seem enough to just be happy. Remember what made you start writing to begin with, and nurture that flame in your gut every moment of every day.

Do you have anything to say to your fans?

It’s so hard to put into words everything I want to say to the readers who support me, who buy my books, who are as excited about the stories I create as I am. You mean the world to me. Sometimes you send me an email to tell me a bit about yourself, or how you loved one of my books, and sometimes I’m swamped and stressed out, and I don’t always reply, but I read every one. And I am so, so thankful.
