Why Choose

Author Lucy Felthousen #interview

Please give a warm welcome to

Tell us a bit about yourself

I’m from Derbyshire, in England. I live with my other half and our dog, Scamp. I work from home, and my days are spent doing all kinds of things to do with books… writing (of course), editing and proofreading (for myself and others), and for both my own work and other people’s, I promote, create websites, create and send newsletters, run blog tours, and so on. It basically means that no two days are the same, I always have different projects to work on, and I never get bored!

Have you always wanted to become an author?

Yes. My love of reading was born very early on in my life, and soon transformed to a love of writing. As a small child, I was forever scribbling in notebooks and creating fantastical worlds and characters. Sadly, I have none of those notebooks now – I’d love to know what was going on in my head back then! I’m very lucky that I’m now making at least a partial living from something I’ve loved for so long.

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

My latest release, Moonstone, is a contemporary reverse harem romance. Although it’s a standalone, it’s part of the multi-author Jewels Cafe Series. The inspiration basically came from the organisers’ outline – there were various rules to follow to be part of the world, so I took those and ran with it. The universe is in Upstate New York, so I cheated a little bit and made my characters Brits, so I didn’t have to worry too much about how they spoke! Of course, there are American characters in there, so I got a couple of beta readers to make sure I hadn’t made them sound British 🙂

°

°

What are you working on now?

Literally nothing. LOL. I just finished a short story, which is actually a bonus scene for Moonstone, and the next project I’m going to working on is a short story to go in a charity anthology. Speaking of which, the deadline is looming, so I’d better get on with it!

°

°

Do you have any quirks while writing?

Obsessively pressing Ctrl+S. Other than that, no, I don’t think so. Maybe if someone recorded or watched me while I write, we might learn differently!

°

°

What are your hopes for the future?

To stay healthy and keep writing and putting books out in the world. And lots of travelling.

°

°

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

Yes, definitely. Read lots in your chosen genre, learn to edit yourself, and never give up.

°

Do you have anything to say to your readers?

Thank you for buying and reading my books, and supporting me. It means the world, and I’m so grateful. ❤
