Tell us a bit about yourself?

Hello! I’m Lila L Frost, author of the Succubus Harem Serial! They’re fun, short monthly releases with guaranteed cliffhangers that allow me to release monthly and for readers to get the story more quickly! For those who don’t like the serial format, they’re also available as bundles once the story arc completes under The (un)Lucky Succubus. I currently have four full length books complete and I’m busily working away on the next story arc, Succubus Dreams!

Right now, writing isn’t my only job, but I hope to be able to release other stories in the same world as the Succubus Harem serials in the future as time allows! In the meantime, Adie’s (mis)adventures will continue!

Have you always wanted to become an author?

Growing up, I always had a passion for reading and writing. I loved fairy tales as a kid, which later grew into a love of fantasy, then paranormal romance. Over middle school and high school, I had written a lot of scenes, beginnings to books that I never
completed, and a few short stories, but nothing ever clicked as “this is something I want to share with other people”. I had no confidence, and my incomplete stories showed it. So while I wanted to write, I don’t know that I always wanted to be an author (inthe sense of actually publishing.)

Then one day some things happened in life, the planets aligned for better or worse, and I sat down and wrote out The Offer. I sat on it for a while, then showed it to a couple friends, then actually plotted out the rest of the book, and I took the terrifying
step into publishing monthly serials. It was scary, a monthly commitment of completing these installments, short though they may be. I’d never written under that kind of restriction/expectation and through the first two story arcs, I questioned every month
if this would be the month I missed my goal. But I just kept pushing, found a pattern to writing regularly that works for me, and almost exactly two years later, I have 24 serials out and four full length books.

It still doesn’t feel “real”, and I don’t know when it will. But I’m now an author, and it’s amazing (and still terrifying when I let myself think on it too much).

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

I love baking, the creation of baking, the almost magical nature of combining these ingredients that, alone, aren’t always tasty, and how they can become this fluffy, magical dessert. It’s like alchemy, the exchange of these plain ingredients for this
wonderful cake. I also love cats, and sexy men, and resisting expectation. And I guess, in my head, those all combined into a succubus who hated her designated roll in life who wanted to a baker instead, and three sexy demons who got in the way of that and made her life so much more complicated, but also fuller.

What are you working on now?

I’m currently working on Succubus Harem 25, which will be out July 5th! It’s the third installment in the Succubus Dreams story arc.

Do you have any quirks while writing?

Not really any quirks. I write as time and inspiration allow, with a laptop that moves around my house with me. Sometimes I listen to ambient noise, but more often, it’s just me in the quiet, fighting off the cats from sleeping on my keyboard.

What are your hopes for the future?

I’d love to branch out and tell other stories in the Succubus world. Tally is top of my list. I’d love to show how she met her witchy boys. And I’d love to explore a few other types of demons. But my main focus will be on Adie and her story. If I find time for the others, that’s great, but Adie comes first. She needs her happily-ever-after. Or as close to a happily-ever-after as she can get while living with demons of destruction!

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

It’s scary. Find a writing group that’s open to talking shop. Ask questions. In my experience, most authors are really open to helping out new people as long as you’re polite and not demanding the secrets to the kingdom (note, there are no secrets. It’s
all about hard work). Be focused, and have a plan. Find a level of writing that works for YOU and try not to compare yourself to those who can pump out more words/books than you.

You are the only one who can tell your story.

Get an editor, but also know how much that should cost. Again, ask other authors. Good covers can make or break a book. Find a designer in your price range. Again, ask other authors. I can’t stress that enough. Communicate with your peers. All authors
were once new, and most writing groups have at least a few authors who are willing to offer information when asked. Just be respectful!

Don’t let social media takeover your life. Don’t read reviews unless you can handle the negativity along with the praise. Don’t get sucked into drama. Don’t let others dictate your story. be true to your characters and your passion for your story will
shine through.

Do you have anything to say to your readers?

I love it when readers reach out to let me know they connected with my stories the same way I do. Writing is a lonely business, and readers don’t know how much it means to us to get those personal message. It can turn a rotten day into sunshine and rainbows. Never hesitate to tell an author you love them, because they’re going to love you a 100% back for taking the time to let them know what they’re doing has meaning.
