Author Matthew J. Stott #interview

Please give a warm welcome to author Matthew J. Stott

Tell us a bit about yourself…

My name is Matthew and I’m an author residing in Illinois with my wife, two children, and pug. I’m a huge geek when it comes to all things fantasy and sci-fi and belong to a number of fandoms like Marvel, Star Wars, and Harry Potter, which are all huge inspirations for my stories.

Have you always wanted to become an author?

Since about the 4th grade in elementary school, when I was first taught about creative writing, I’ve gravitated toward storytelling. This turned into a passion in my later youth to become an author one day. I wrote short stories for fun over the years until I felt ready to pursue my first novel. So yes, for as long as I can remember.

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

Like I mentioned before, my favorite movies and shows are a big inspiration for my writing. Specifically for my current book/series, I fell in love with a video game franchise called Kingdom Hearts where a kid and his friends leave their simple island life and travel to all these amazing worlds. I was always fascinated with the idea of portals and different realms and knew I wanted to craft a story around that concept, hence how “The Portal to Aardon” was born.

What are you working on now?

Right now I’m gearing up for the release of my debut novel, which is very exciting, but at the same time I’m working on the sequel as this series is set currently to be three books. This second book is going to take all the magic, action, and emotion of the first book and amp it up fifty notches.

Do you have any quirks while working?

I’m not sure if you’d call it a quirk, but I like to listen to various scores while I write. That is, instrumental music without lyrics, which I feel strikes the perfect balance of stimulating the brain without being too distracting. I also find motivation for my writing in commissioning artwork of my characters so I can see them come to life, as well as creating “mood boards” which are basically pictures/artwork that showcase the aesthetics and themes of your story.

What are your hopes for the future?

My hopes for the future are to 1) have my debut novel sell well, so that my sequel books will have the audience they deserve and 2) complete my series in a satisfying manner while continuing to grow my author presence across social media so that I can eventually afford to quit my day job and write stories for a living.

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

My main advice would be to start networking and building a social media presence as soon as they can. The publishing industry can be a frustrating and overwhelming place, and having writer friends and people there to support you who understand what you’re going through is crucial to your success as an author.

Do you have anything to say to your followers?

I hope you’ll check out my YA fantasy novel, “The Portal to Aardon,” when it releases on Sept 13 and leave an honest review. I’ve worked so hard on this story and feel it will resonate strongly with readers. I’m absolutely grateful for all the friends, family, and fellow readers/writers who have supported me in any way along my journey. Thank you!

Brush Strokes by Sonja Djurisevic

This poetry collection is extraordinary in the way it interweaves the author’s emotions towards family, partner and life. It is a collection of all beautiful and some less beautiful memories of a gentle person, and it encompasses love, pain, and happiness. It will find its way into the hands of the readers and open up the whole new world. The poetry of this young author will touch you deeply and make you feel special. Poetry was always intended to touch people’s souls and make those who write it or read feel powerful and divine. The author’s goal was to achieve that effect on her readers.

Boje Liubavi

Ova zbirka poezije je posebna jer su u njoj satkane emocije prema porodici, momku i životu. Kroz nju se prožimaju ljubav, bol i sreća. Ona je zbir svih lijepih i manje lijepih sjećanja jednog nježnog bića. Pronaći će put do čitalaca i otvoriti vrata jednog potpuno novog svijeta.

Author S.C. Winters #interview

Please give a warm welcome to

Tell us a bit about yourself…

My name is S.C. Winters. I am 31 and from a small town in Arkansas. I am a lover off all things anime, critical roll and flowers. I love hanging out with my nieces and enjoying the sunshine.

Have you always wanted to become an author?

I always wanted to do something creative. I have always been good at stories and entertaining my siblings, cousins and friends. My father and sister are the artists and I tried but I am only good at stick figures!! lol. So I started writing down what I thought would be entertaining and once my family read it, they encouraged me to move forward.

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

As a young adult I went through something traumatic and it is a situation that doesn’t have a voice. I want to bring that voice to life in my books. I know that it wont be the same, but if my one story shows someone out there in the world that it is okay to express yourself and what happened then I will feel accomplished.

What are you working on now?

I have a couple of series that I am currently working on. They are theraputic for me and I am in LOVE with these characters. They are a bit twisted and full of trigger warnings, but will end up with a happyish ending.

Do you have any quirks while working?

I always have music going, chips, dip and cantelaope. I know its a totally strange combo, but it helps me focus. Plus my PA and Dream Team are always a message away if I need help.

What are your hopes for the future?

I want to write books that help people. Whether they know they need it or not. I want my books to show that not all stories are the same and some are there to help you heal. Even if the characters aren’t real.

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

Write it and go for it. You will never know what you can do until you try. If you need help, ask. There are a TON of PA’s, Authors and readers that will help you.

Do you have anything to say to your followers?

Thank you. Without you I would not be able to keep writing and making beautiful worlds for you to enjoy.

Author Jewels Athur #interview

Please give a warm welcome to

Tell us a bit about yourself

My name is Jewels Arthur, which is actually a penname. I have lived in Central Illinois all my life and I currently work at an insurance company that I don’t think wants to be associated with smut. Just a guess 😉 I have been married since 2011 to my high school boyfriend. We have 1 beautiful daughter who is 5. I am an avid reader, realty TV binger, and videogamer.

°

Have you always wanted to become an author?

I’ve always loved to write. Whether it was poems, like my grandmother, or fanfiction it’s always been a passion of mine. When I was younger I wrote fanfiction about the movie Signs with Mel Gibson. Probably because I was/am terrified of aliens so I was trying to make it less scary. I have always thought being an author was out of reach though. That it wasn’t a ‘real job’ but since seeing the indie author world my perception has changed.

°

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

Every video game that has assassins. For example Skyrim, the Dark Brotherhood is one of my favorite parts. I love being a badass assassin just running through and murdering everyone. The idea of creating this female assassin with a dark past appealed to me so much. Plus I love the idea that joining the family unlocks this power sleeping inside you. In my dreams I am Mara, female assassin succubus with my gorgeous harem of men.

°

°

What are you working on now?

Book 2 in the series. I am really excited for the introduction of new characters and to explore this realm the assassins can use called the void. I’m also working on a horror short story coming out in an anthology in September. There are a few other anthologies I am working on including a shifter romance that is turning out to be longer than I expected so we’ll see what happens with that. I also have some ideas for an alien reverse harem.

°

Do you have any quirks while writing?

Playlists. I have several that I have made that get me in the mood for certain scenes. Also I watch certain videos of the sexual variety for inspiration writing those sexy scenes 😉

°

What are your hopes for the future?

Honestly just getting all these stories out of my head and putting them on paper is amazing to me. The fact that people want to read them? Mind blowing. I’m hoping that the stories won’t stop and that I will be able to continue to express them and find readers.

°

°

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

Just do it. Literally if you have an idea, start writing and run with it! Make friends in the community. Everyone is so amazing and having contacts for your endless questions is amazing.

°

Do you have anything to say to your readers?

Thank you! Seriously, the fact that you are at all interested in the nonsense that I have in my head is astounding to me. Also, keep swooning. We need more swooners in the world.

Please give a warm welcome to debut author

Tell us a bit about yourself

I’m a brand spanking new author, a mom, a wife and have a small farm full of animals.

°

Have you always wanted to become an author?

Actually, no. I’ve always loved to read but I never felt “author-y” so I just devoured other people’s works. Then one day, I realized I had been telling stories for a while, so why couldn’t I write them down? Some of the best people I’ve met said go for it and here I am.

°

°

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

I really don’t remember. It’s a story that I’ve been telling for years in bits and pieces. The RH component came after my intro into the book world of RH.

°

°

What are you working on now?

I’m working on book two of the Anomaly series (with more Willy!) as well as the first book of a new series which is going to be called Box of Puppets.

°

°

Do you have any quirks while writing?

I need music or I will get distracted by everything. Oh and snacks. I need snacks.

°

°

What are your hopes for the future?

I just hope people like what I write. As long as someone enjoys it, I’ll be happy!

°

°

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

The first piece of advice I got when I was hesitant to try was to “just write it” and go for it. You can always fix something later, unless you never put it down to begin with.

°

Do you have anything to say to your readers?

Thank you. To every single person who reads it, whether you love, hate it or somewhere in between, thank you.

Debut Author Jade Waltz #interview

Please give a warm welcome to debut author Jade Waltz

Tell us a bit about yourself

I am a mother of two sons and three cats. I live with my husband in the Midwest, USA.

During the summer, I write marching band drill – which are the pictures marching bands make on the fields to music. I also help teach the drill to the marching bands at their band camps.

When I am not writing, I enjoy reading, playing video games, knitting, and acrylic painting (even though I am not that good at it).

The first part of my pen name is the nickname people who know me well call me in real life (and because I love the color green). Since music was an important part of my life growing up and is a part of my seasonal job, I wanted to have my last name that related to it. A lot of musical terms are hard to spell (being Italian or some other foreign language) – I wanted to make sure I used an easier word. Hell, half of the time I butcher spelling some of the longer musical terms myself. That was how “Jade Waltz” was born.

Have you always wanted to become an author?

Sort of? I have written a lot of fanfics. Then I wanted to create my own worlds, so I have collected multiple notebooks of notes and outlines of universes I wanted to write someday. I finally got the courage to write one of universes and now I am here.

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

I am a huge Star Trek and Star Wars fan. Sci-fi movies/shows, anime and books are my jam. I wanted a diverse multi-cultured universe with multiple aliens and where humans weren’t the dominant species.

What are you working on now?

The initial series of the HUGE “Project” universe named “Project: Adapt”. It is space-fantasy RH/#whychoose series which will have the FMC travel through the galaxy, experiencing new things and meeting multiple aliens along the way. Her collection of males will grow throughout the series

Do you have any quirks while writing?

I always have to have at least two drinks prepared before I write (a cold drink to drink while the hot one cools off some), I have a Keurig and a pile of Lifesavers Mints always next to me so I don’t have to leave the desk.

What are your hopes for the future?

I would be happy to be successful enough to pay for the costs of creating the books and some debts — maybe even getting a nanny! ^.^ But mainly, I would love for the world to fall in love with my stories and the universes they are in.

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

Being a new author myself – my main advice would be to make writing a habit – even if it is only a thousand words a day. Get your first draft written before going back to butcher and edit it. It is better to get your story completed than getting stuck redoing a certain chapter/scene.

Do you have anything to say to your fans?

Thank you for all of your support. You help me want to push myself to write faster and grow as an author. I hope you continue to enjoy my stories as I write them.

Author Loxley Savage #interview

Give a warm welcome to author

Tell us a bit about yourself

I have been happily married for almost 7 years! I’m obsessed with anything Harry Potter or Irish related. I love Sumatra K cups and go to sleep craving my morning coffee. I love rap music, reality tv, and chocolate.

°

Have you always wanted to become an author?
I have not always wanted to be an author. I found the RH genre a year ago and fell in love with it, like everyone else. I beta read for several authors and was on ARC teams for many more when I started to get the itch to write my own story.

°

°

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

Inspiration for my current WIP was a picture I came across in a fantasy art group. The chick was just badass and I immediately knew her story! So.. I started to write it!

°

°

What are you working on now?
Right now I have 4 WIPs. Feathers and Fire trilogy, a Dark PNR RH Romance, book 1 comes out this month. I have a Dark Cinderella Omegaverse type book with wolf shifters that I recently started, it is yet untitled, but will be dark RH romance as well. I am also co writing with Scarlett Snow and Katie May. Scarlett and I just submitted our book for preorder. It is dark as fuck, Fantasy RH Romance, titled Saphyre: Enslaved by the Kings book 1. It will release next month and is also a trilogy. Katie and I are writing an Fantasy RH Romance. It is an epic journey that I think our readers and really going to love. No release date or title for this series yet.

°

°

Do you have any quirks while writing?

Quirks! I guess it depends. Since my kids are all too little for school just yet, I try and squeak some writing time in when my youngest takes her nap. I call that quiet time and banish the other 2 to our huge basement playroom, (we have an 85 inch tv down there so don’t feel too bad lol) I prefer it quiet, thats really my only quirk lol

°

°

What are your hopes for the future?

Well, I hope to take on the Dark Reverse Harem world by storm, along with my Dark Romance co author, Scarlett Snow. Give those that like the dark sexy ass addicting stories, and maybe introduce some newbies to the dark side of romance so they can see how delicious it can really be. I hope that I am successful enough to continue writing 🙂

°

°

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

This Is funny since I’m still yet unpublished. My biggest advice is don’t give up. Know that your first draft will need many revisions. Don’t get discouraged when you need to delete entire chapters and write new ones. Its can be overwhelming at times but stick with it. And find your tribe who will help you through all the rough times. I have a huge group of friends who support me no matter what. I wouldn’t be where I am without them.

°

°

Do you have anything to say to your fans?

*My fans! Do I have any of those yet? If there are any out there, thank you! Those of you that take time to comment on my posts or send me a pm telling me how excited they are to read my book. You have no idea how much that means to me, especially as a new author trying to make it. You guys keep me motivated and make me want to do better and be better. Thank you for your constant support! I love you all!

Author Ivy Asher #interview

I’d like you all to welcome to debut author Ivy Asher of The Lost and the Chosen

Tell us a bit about yourself:

Aw man I never know what to say to this question. I took days to write my Author bio and it’s like 4 lines…lol. Hiya I’m Ivy Asher: I’m a writer, reader, mom, wife, friend, woman, human, and not always in that order. I love books, animals, people who make me laugh, or just love to laugh In general. I like to be real about life, the good, the bad, the brutal, and I value people who feel the same way.

Have you always wanted to become an author?

I am one of those people who just kind of floated around, not really sure what I was meant for. I have always been creative, but I never thought being a writer was an option for me. I grew up a bit rough and it forced me to focus on basic needs and not so much goals or dreams. It wasn’t until I became a mom and I was isolated, a bit lonely, and reading a lot… that I just felt this story sitting inside of my soul. So I wrote down what was there in a note book and I started researching programs to use when writing a book.

What was your inspiration for The Lost and the Chosen?

I had this idea about a story of a girl who was tough, but empathetic, and owned who she was. I wrote the kind of girl I wish I could have read more about growing up. The kind of woman who isn’t just one sided but encapsulates all the incredible things that I think most women are comprised of; our mother hearts, and get shit done attitudes, our resilience, and unique compassion. I wanted to write about a raw, bruised but not down kind of girl, because those are the women I know, and what I’m all about. I knew who Vinna would be and then the rest came as I wrote. I personally love Paranormal and RH, so I knew those would be key elements. I just wrote and then I would go back and edit and then write some more, and then one day I typed, the end, and I had a book!

Do you have any quirks while writing?

I listen to music. Not always, sometimes I need quiet to focus, but for all the badass scenes and fights, I have music on. When I wrote the final scene with Talon I had this one song on repeat. I see things like a movie in my head and then I write it down. I’m very visual in that sense. I need to see it and how it plays out and the soundtrack and all of that, and then I put it all in the computer how it plays out in my mind.

What are you working on now?

I am working on book three, getting merch sorted, and putting a website together… all things other authors have told me I need to have…lol. I’ve been approached about the audio rights to this series, so I’m working on that, and I have two other projects in the works. One is a secret and for the other I was asked to participate in an Anthology for charity so I’m brainstorming ideas for that. Mostly I’m getting ready to publish Book 2 and legitimately terrified that it won’t live up to Book 1. So I’m wrestling with some worry and self doubt, and hoping I don’t shit the bed or let any of the amazing readers down.

What are your hopes for the future?

So I’ve never been a big dreamer or goals kind of girl, but I’ll finish Vinna’s story this year, and then I have some other things planned for that world and stories that I see playing out in it. I have some new stories sitting in my soul, waiting to be written, and I’ve started notebooks for them but they’ll have to wait their turn. I’m going to keep writing and hope that people want to keep reading. I never want to do anything else. It fulfills me and calls to me in ways I never knew “work” could. It was what I was always meant for, but never knew to hope for.

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

Oh man advice…Write… if it calls to you or you have a story sitting inside of your soul, go for it. I didn’t go to school for this, I throw commas around like glitter, most days I feel a little bit like a fluke to be honest, but I had this story that I needed to write. I don’t outline or pre-plan I just sit down and go for it and one thing that has helped me in that process is that I write something that I would want to read. Last but not least I would advise, not to hire people to do anything with your book without a contract; I learned that the hard way, but it was a very valuable lesson. Make sure what’s agreed on is in writing, so that you, your work, and your reputation is protected. A lot of this indie publishing business is referral based and not everyone is trust worthy. Be smart, trust your instincts, and protect yourself with a contract.

Do you have anything to say to your fans?

There are no words that truly express just how grateful and humbled I am by your support. You’ve made my dreams come true and I will never be able to repay you for that! I love and appreciate all of you so much, and I’ll work hard to be worthy of you! Thank you to all of you for reading, for reaching out, for the laughs, and the heart felt words. You’re fam now and I fucking love each and everyone of you!!

And now to you Helle…Thank you for your support…seriously I see you recommending the book and showing me so much love and I just want you to know how much it means to me! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

About Ivy:
Ivy Asher is addicted to chai, swearing, and laughing a lot (but not in a creepy, laughing alone kind of way). She loves the snow, books, and her family of two humans, and three fur-babies. She has worlds and characters just floating around in her head, and she’s lucky enough to be surrounded by amazing people who support that kind of crazy.

Ann Swan #interview

Please give a warm welcome debut author Ann Swan. Her book Covened: A Magical Reverse Harem Romance (Mrs Pig and the Words of Power Book 1) is on pre-order going live Febuary 1.

TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF?

Other than being a full-time sarcastic bitch, I am a writer, a mother to 3 kids, and a pug enthusiast. I wanted to write since I was a little girl but the practical people who raised me pushed me to another career, and then my health failed. I’ve had 68 surgeries in the last decade and am finally getting stronger again. Between that and my oldest turning 18 this year I felt like if I was ever going to go after my dream now was the time!

HAVE YOU ALWAYS WANTED TO BECOME AN AUTHOR?

Oh yes. Since I was little. I taught myself to read listening to books my mom would record onto tapes I’d play in my Care Bear Cassette Player. By the time I was 5 I was reading The Secret Garden and I read Jane Eyre at 8. We lived in the woods and I’d climb trees with books I borrowed and read them. I’d steal Harlequins from my great aunt and hide them in baggies in tree holes. My first book was when I was 9 and I wrote a Jane Eyre rip off called Stuart Hall (which was the name of the pen brand I wrote with).

WHAT WAS YOUR INSPIRATION FOR THE SERIES?

Covened, which is the first book in the Mrs. Pig & the Words of Power series has the best origin story. So like I mentioned, I’m sick. A lot. I spend about 75% of my time stuck in bed. My daughter was given a runt pug by a friend and we named her Luna. She is the biggest character. She fit right in with our rescue dogs and then before we knew it we were making up voices for her and having her narrate our lives. It made all the sucky parts of life better. She is so human, and so caring. One day, my husband and I were making up an alternate life for her while we joked around about reverse harem books…. And then it came to me. I knew it was time to go after my dream, and if I was going to do it I was going to write a story about something I loved.

DO YOU HAVE ANY QUIRKS WHILE WRITING?

Some? Maybe? I have to have my legs up. I have short legs so I write in bed, or on the chaise. It has to be a laptop, too. I sit it on my lap direct or lay on my side sideways and type. It also has to be super silent, so that means I do most of my writing after midnight!WHAT ARE YOU WORKING ON NOW Right now I am deep into the second book in the series, CURSED. I am also working on a free short story from one of the guys perspectives. After the Mrs. Pig series wraps I’m going to write a series based off the Anastasia Romanov story but in space. It’s called the Hidden Princess series and the first book is Ana of the Stars. The covers are SO CUTE.

DO YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE FOR NEW AUTHORS ABOUT THE PUBLISHING WORLD?

I’m pretty new myself, but I do. Protect your reputation like it’s your health. Don’t gossip; it will ALWAYS end up hurting you. Treat your name like a business and keep it clean. Be genuine, work hard, and don’t feel stupid asking questions. Lastly, pay for good editing. It really is worth it.

WHAT ARE YOUR HOPES FOR THE FUTURE?

I want this series to do well so I can use it to pay for the costs of putting out the next one. I want to get better at what I do and write faster. I’m a slow writer. Developing that skill would be so beneficial. I want to get invited to a signing one day. That’s a big goal too… I’m waiting for once Covened hits for that first call out in a fan group. I can’t wait!

DO YOU HAVE ANYTHING TO SAY TO YOUR FANS?

Hello all four of you! Ha! It’s hard to understand the concept of a fan when my book hasn’t released yet. You could hate it and then where would we be? I consider the people that have followed my journey to this point…the ones like you Helle who are in my group every day and have gotten to know me; I consider you guys family. Friends. Fans is for people I don’t know but like my books. Those would be nice one day, too, but for now I have friends who keep me going. Thank you for being one of those!

Blurp
MAGIC IS DYING;
CAN I SAVE IT?
IF THE PRICE IS MY HAPPINESS;
CAN I PAY IT?
In the last few generations, only one in a hundred female witches are born with power. So when I came into mine, my grandmother helped me hide it so I wouldn’t be swept away by the ISC, our magical government.
The price of discovery was steep; becoming an ISC drone and being paired with their choice of mate for my coven. So I hid in plain sight working days at Maggie’s Pet Wash, and nights piecing together the mythical Words of Power.
The only thought that keeps me going is figuring out a way to beat the ISC and hopefully fall in love with a coven of my own… maybe even raise a few little witchlings.
So when my familiar, a pug named Mrs. Pig, screws up my one shot at obtaining the Words of Power, I figure everything is ruined. That is until Pierce, Sam, and their own talking dogs walk into my life. Now that I have them, can I give them up? Even to save magic?
The ISC is coming for me. What they don’t know is:
I’M COMING FOR THEM, TOO.
