Tell us a bit about yourself

Goodness, I’m not that interesting. I’m a half demon sadist who enjoys tormenting my readers with good ol’ cliffhangers and tormenting the characters you love most. Really though, I’m a regular mom who supports my family and does her best to get by. Also, I love people. I love making friends. And I am always willing to offer a cuddle.

°

°

Have you always wanted to become an author?

No, I fell into this career after writing fanfiction for fun. People liked my words, so I expanded and listened to feedback and grew.

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

I have the most interesting dreams. I take bits from them and pants the rest. I’m all about the pantsing writing style.

°

°

What are you working on now?

It’s a deep, dark secret, but I can tell you this. It will blow your mind.

°

°

Do you have any quirks while writing?

LOL. Don’t we all? I dress like a slob and wear free tee-shirts. I also use a ridiculous amount of post-its that have nothing to do with my writing. They are just there, on my desk, where I won’t read them, and they serve little actual purpose.

°

°

What are your hopes for the future?

Justice.

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

This is one of my favorite questions. YES! I have great advice (I promise). If you are new to the writing world, do what I and many other authors you love did: post your first work for free on sites like Fictionpress and Literotica. Get feedback. Grow from that feedback (even though sometimes it might be hard to hear). And above all, read Stephen King’s ON WRITING. Best book I’ve ever come across that really grasps the craft.

°

°

Do you have anything to say to your readers?

Gosh, I have so many things I want to say. Thank you, first off, for supporting me. Thank you for doing your own research when things got ugly. Thank you for all the love you sent when my health went to shit. Thank you for the never-ending support. Really, I felt and still feel that love. Thank you for having fun with me, joking with me, letting me tease you. Thank you for joining the Addison Cain’s Dark Longings Lounge so we could get to know one another. Thank you for following me on facebook and subscribing to my silly newsletters.

THANK YOU for being you. Thank you for letting me get to know you.

Once Upon A Wolf by Scarlett Snow and Tiegan Clyne #newrelease

Once Upon A Wolf: A Dark Academy Reverse Harem Romance (Everafter Academy Book 1) by Scarlett Snow and Tiegan Clyne

°

Once upon a time a wolf took everything away from me. I’m here to return the favor…

When the Big Bad Wolf and his pack of witch hunters murdered my family, I made a deal with the Devil in exchange for revenge.

Giving him my soul was the easy part.

Surviving Everafter Academy… now that deserves a medal.

I’m not the Red Riding Hood everyone thinks I am. I’m Ravyn, the witch with a deep, dark secret, and I’m only at this school to hunt down my family’s killer. If pretty boys Erik, Christopher, and Gideon think they can make my life hell just because I’m different, they’re in for a surprise.

I’m going to make these Prince Charmings regret the day they ever wronged me.

Everything I do is chaos. Everything I touch turns to darkness. They can call me a monster because that’s exactly what I am.

My heart isn’t meant to be won over or broken. It’s meant to be feared.

With a trio of jealous princesses determined to put a hex on me, a magical school full of ‘good’ fairy tale creatures that despise my kind, secrets galore, and a headmaster whose dark desires rival my own, I’m here to prove that even villains deserve their happily ever after.

Mine just involves bloodshed, blackmail, and sweet sinister revenge.

What can I say? I’m a Darkblood. It’s in my nature.

Now sit back and let me tell you how fairytales REALLY go. It all starts with the Devil’s Altar…

Everafter Academy is a Dark Reverse Harem Bully Romance. Each fairytale creature has been modernized and thrown into a world of magic, depravity, and allure, and Ravyn will never choose which path—or man—she truly wants. Why choose when she can have them all?

Themes: bully, forbidden romance, student/teacher, D/s relationship
Genres: reverse harem, academy, fantasy, fairytale
Heat Level: Scorching-hot, consensual scenes that are for 18+ only.

Author C.A. Storm #interview

Please give a warm welcome to author Chris “C.A.” Storm | Kinkaid Knight

°

°

Tell us a bit about yourself

Oh, this is always a difficult one. Right, I’m a 40-something gay male who writes romance novels primarily for a female audience. From male/female romances through polyamorous/reverse harem novels, and even dipping my toes into gay harem and dystopian omegaverse stories. I write under the pen name C.A. Storm for my paranormal/science fiction romance stories, and started a new pen name, Kinkaid Knight, for my more contemporary and “adult” erotica books.

°

°

I grew up a military brat, joined the Navy out of high school, then after getting out of the Navy, proceeded to spend my twenties hopping around the world, trying to “find myself” while I pursued my dreams – I ended up working for a game publishing company producing tabletop roleplaying games based on the works of a New York Times best-selling author for a few years, then went to England for a year to work for an early independent publisher of alternative fantasy fiction. When I got back to the States, I finally finished getting my degree—in graphic design—before ending up in Hawaii of all places, where I finally made the plunge and started self-publishing romance novels.

°

°

I’ve been reading romance novels since I was about 10, when I first got a hold of my mom’s Zebra Historical romance novels, and I’ve been addicted to “love” and “romance” ever since!

Currently, I live in Honolulu, Hawaii, with my partner of 14 years now. Hm, what else? I’m a Gemini, a bit of a Heathen, used to be called the #GlitterKing but have lately been embracing my #IrishViking heritage. I also have a fondness for hashtags, gifs, and posting pictures of good looking men in my Facebook groups to help spread joy, happiness, and eye-candy to those in need!

°

Have you always wanted to become an author?

I’ve always been a storyteller. Growing up, I’d make up fairy tales for my younger brother and sister as bed time stories. When I was 8, I won a school Halloween story writing contest for a short story about an alien plant—for the record, I won a set of fake vampire fangs and make-up kit—and ever since then, I’ve been a bit addicted to writing. In high school, I was the moody poet and channeled a lot of my storytelling into running Dungeons & Dragons and Vampire: The Masquerade/Werewolf: The Apocalypse games for my friends.

In my twenties, I started writing adventures for the Third Edition of Dungeons & Dragons, which ended up getting me a job as a game designer, writer/editor, and art director for Dragonlance Third Edition, but that was more technical writing than fiction. My first actual “published” fiction stories, however, were short stories that took place in Storm Constantine’s Wraeththu Universe.

Through my thirties, I didn’t do too much writing. I’d start projects, but never really finish, and was more focused on working on my degree in graphic design than I worried about actually submitting manuscripts for publication. It was only once I had my degree, and once I had moved to Hawaii and was in a better “mental place,” that I finally decided to take the plunge and start writing romance novels—because they’re fun.

°

°

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

I’m a bit of a mental sponge. I absorb everything I’m exposed to; never knowing what may spark an idea. For one of the series I’m working on, I drew upon my usual inspiration of world mythologies – I love myths and legends, ever since first learning Greek mythology in school. However, I love the interaction between mythologies, how wildly disparate and separated peoples might have developed eerily similar monsters or stories, probably drawing from some long-lost primordial tales that somehow survived migrations.

Heh, then again, I’m also working on a contemporary story involving the Mafia, the Bratva, a Heathen motorcycle club, and a cleaning lady—which was inspired by the term “clean” romances, even though this one will definitely not be “clean”!

°

°

What are you working on now?

Let’s see…more than I should probably admit to.

C.A. Storm has Lilith: the First Omega coming out next month, a twisted tale of how Lilith tricks some of the most wicked and monstrous beings from myth and legend into causing the apocalypse; which will kick off my dystopian/paranormal Omegaverse universe dubbed Omega Apocrypha. I’m also revamping and expanding my ELF Omegas Christmas short story to a full novella, so that’s another Omegaverse novel—although this one is that gay harem I previously mentioned. After I get those finished, I’m heading back to my first series, about a paranormal Renaissance Flair, with A Wolf in Period Clothing, which I hope to have out by the end of June-ish.

°

°

Kinkaid Knight is hard at work on The Cleaners, the first in my Big Bad Men series of standalone novels. It’s introducing my contemporary universe, so will contain hints of future series to come. Kinkaid’s also working on an erotica short story, introducing another universe—this one a “contemporary” type of dystopian, revolving around “primal” males…you’ll have to stay tuned for more on that one!

°

°

Do you have any quirks while writing?

Oh jeez. This is a little tough.

Hm. Okay, I have to write in order, from the beginning of the story through the end. I can’t jump around. If there’s a certain scene that I desperately want to write, I just have to bulldoze through the story until I get to it. That said, I save each chapter in a separate file, which makes it easier to edit in the long run and keeps my “master document” from getting too large and unwieldy.

I always have 2 drinks at hand. One is water, I drink a lot of water. I also always have either a cup of coffee – if it’s early (say, before 3-4pm)—or either a beer (if it’s a “work night”) or a mixed drink, typically Dr. Jack (Jack Daniels & Dr. Pepper).

Oh! I tend to speak out-loud when I’m writing dialogue, to make sure it’s flowing properly, that it makes sense. I…may have also acted out certain scenes, in order to make sure the mechanics of it work out properly. I should probably not discuss which scenes, in particular, I’ve done that with.

°

°

What are your hopes for the future?

Honestly? Just to keep writing. I want to get to the point my writing is fully supporting myself and my family, and I’d be quite happy doing that for the rest of my natural life. Wherever it takes me, though, I’m sure it’ll be an interesting ride—and provide plenty more inspiration for future stories.

°

°

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

Hm, this is another tough one.

First, I’d say “find your voice.” Find what makes your stories different, the unique “voice” that allows readers to relate to you, your distinct turns of phrase or what makes you different from the millions of other writers out there.

Second, editing is important. I cannot stress the importance enough! However, and this is the tricky one…don’t let them edit out your personality and your voice!

Third, keep writing. Just write. Don’t worry about making it perfect in the first draft. Just focus on getting it finished. Once you can prove to yourself that you can craft a story from beginning to end, then worry about polishing it, editing and revising it, but don’t let yourself get caught up in the stress of ensuring it’s absolutely perfect before you let it out in the world. Perfection is impossible. Just make it as good as you can, and move on.

Fourth, make friends and don’t start drama. In the indie world, who you know can make or break you, but never, ever talk bad about anyone – they will find out. Some authors, and readers, thrive on the drama, but in the end, it takes away from your writing, from the enjoyment of writing and telling stories. Yes, you’re going to see other, newer authors suddenly become huge while you may still be struggling, and it’s going to make you doubt yourself; that’s sadly just the way things are. Don’t become “That Person,” who starts trying to tear down other authors, don’t become the bitter critic—just double-down on your own writing, and keep pushing forward!

Find your own path to happiness. Learn what you can, figure out what works for you, and kill them with kindness!

°

°

Do you have anything to say to your readers?

I adore you all—yes, even you! Thank you for reading my stories, and hopefully, even if just for a minute or two, I managed to entertain you! If I made you laugh, or made you swoon, or even made you mad or sad, then my mission was accomplished! Now, just be sure to leave a review!

Author Mary Martel #interview

Please give a warm welcome to author Mary Martel

Tell us a bit about yourself

Hi. My name is Mary Martel and I’m the author of the Ariel Kimber series. I live in North Dakota, which I’m way over at the moment because I hate winter and it’s so damn cold here that it’s stupid and going outside feels like torture. I have two beautiful little girls that mean everything to me, a Pomeranian that was my dad’s little baby and is a stuck up brat but we love her, two kitties, a bunny and my latest addition being two ferrets that my husband recently got me. It’s a handful and I love it.

Have you always wanted to become an author?

Ahhh…. I want to say yes because I used to take creative writing classes and I’ve always enjoyed writing for fun but it’s not something I ever thought I could make a career out of.

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

My inspiration for my current book/series… Well, I have so many projects going at the moment that it’s kind of hard to answer this. Sometimes it can just be a picture that I find somewhere that gives me an idea and then I go and hunt down other pictures. I have an Inspiration Board that I put all of my pictures on and it’s up in my office. I’m always taking things down and adding new pictures to it whenever I find something that inspires me.

What are you working on right now?

Umm… I have two co-writes that I’m working on, one that is a super secret and the other one I just announced in my readers group. I am also working on Pretty Ugly, which is the next book in my Mercy Motorcycle Club series. And, Black as Midnight, which is the next full length Ariel Kimber book. I also have my Ruby Jane vampire book that I’ve been slowly working on when I have time and probably like 8 other projects that nobody else knows about because I’ve been keeping a lot fo my things hidden away until they are done.

What are your hopes for the future?

I think everyone hopes to be successful and I’m no different but I try really hard not to have serious expectations when it comes to my books so that way I’m never disappointed with how they do.

Do you have any quirks while writing?

Yes. LOL. I do not like the quiet. But, I also cannot listen to music while writing because I find it distracting. So, I have to have my television on while writing for the background noise that it gives me. It’s weird.

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

Keep writing. It’s very easy to get discouraged and want to give up, but you just need to keep on writing and not let things like shitty reviews drag you down. Don’t ever go on Goodreads to check out your reviews because it will only make you feel like crap. And keep writing. I can’t stress that last part enough. If you quit then you’re never going to get anywhere.

Do you have anything to say to your readers?

Yes! I freaking adore each and every single one of you. Thank you so much for taking this crazy journey with me, the best is yet to come.

Author Elle Cross #interview

Please give a warm welcome to author Elle Cross

Tell us a bit about yourself

Im Elle Cross and I write Urban Fantasy and Paranormal Romance! My debut novel, So Dark the Night launched March 1 (a year ago!), and since then, I published 8 more books with another one on the way!
Currently, I pay the bills as a makeup artist which means I have a massive makeup collection and can totes justify buying more!
When Im not playing with color or my imaginary friends, I am usually watching movies and eating an unholy amount of food with my hubs.
I still claim NYC as my home even though I now living in the Midwest.

Have you always wanted to become an author?

I have been a writer my entire life (seriously, I kept a diary/journal for as long as I can remember), but I dont think I wanted to be an author or pursue that as a career until about 10-12 years ago. I know its weird since Ive always loved reading, and I went to school for literature and creative writing, but I never had the idea of publishing my own words.
One random day, my husband told me that he thought I should write the books that I loved to read, and those words would permeate my brain and be the start of my journey toward published author.

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

Immortelle was inspired by the cover. I saw it and immediately reminded me of Ruby Rose, which got me thinking: What if John Wick was gender swapped, and it was the woman who lost her husband? And what if she was a vampire who lost her human lover?
The idea seized my mind, and instead of working on the current project that was on deadline (So Dark the Night), I worked feverishly in the night to brainstorm the story and the blurb.
What are you working on now?
Now that Maestra (Immortelle Book Two) is locked and loaded in Amazon, I am working on a collaboration that is almost complete, and the third book of my Brightling Court Series, So Deep the Ocean.

Do you have any quirks while writing?

Nothing too quirky: I listen to a combination of pink noise (which is like white noise but softer) and my current projects playlist.
I call myself a hybrid plotter. I love the idea of outlining but I dont necessarily follow the outline as I write.
As far as my process, I handwrite the ideas of my novel first, and whatever I remember from memory, I go with. If I get lost, I’ll go back to my notes and go from there.

What are your hopes for the future?

Short-term? I hope to finish at least two series this year—Immortelle and Wolf Singer Prophecies. I have a pretty ambitious schedule and I hope to deliver at least the ten stories I have planned (not including my collaborations).
Long-term? I would love to be able to write full-time—I can only imagine how many more books I can publish when I’m not being distracted by a corporate day job 60-70 hours a week, LOL

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

There is a different between the art and craft of writing and the business of publishing. Its hard to keep it separate sometimes, but please remember that you define your own success.
Keep a growth mindset and a focus on writing the best story you can deliver for each book. Release yourself from the obligation that you need to deliver a perfect (or even good) story. Just write the best story that you are able to write in the moment, and trust that you can deliver.
And, when things feel rough, remember why you started writing in the first place.
Do you have anything to say to your fans?
I love you! Thank you for reading my books and sharing this dream with me.

Author Nora Ash #interview

Please give a warm welcome to fellow Dane and author Nora Ash

Tell us a bit about yourself

I’m a 34 Dane who fell in love with a Brit and moved to England nearly a decade ago. I have two cats, because my mean fiancé refuses to let me give in to my cat hoarding tendencies, and if I ever win the lottery I’m moving us all into the Swedish forests and getting at least five horses.

Have you always wanted to become an author?

Yes. I used to write thousands of pages in secret, just for myself. But I never thought I’d actually get to fulfil my dream, so I went to university for a super serious Business degree, and even did Masters. It never felt right, though. I was never happy. While I finished my Bachelor, I started writing fan fiction, and the amount of joy I got out of that process eventually made me realize that I needed to change my life. I’ll forever be thankful to the kind readers on fanfiction.net who encouraged me to publish my own work.

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

I usually jump between series, so I’m just going to talk about my latest release, Ragnarök Rising.
Because of my Scandi roots, I’ve grown up with the stories from Norse mythology as part of everyday life. Roads and landmarks were named after gods and Jotunns, my high school was located in a town known for its Viking museum, and my favorite comics as a kid followed Thor’s human servants as they ventured through Asgard and beyond. (The Valhalla comics by Peter Madsen)
Because of this, I’ve always felt deeply connected to Norse mythology, and I knew I wanted to write a story about them. But because Thor’s already married according to the mythology, I couldn’t really round him and the other gods up and give them a new girlfriend! So, their sons were up instead.

What are you working on now?

I’m working on a continuation to my very first serial, Demon’s Mark. It’s called Prince of Demons, and it’s about a girl who can see demons for what they are, and a deal she makes to save her brother. Also, there’s lots of magic, filthy sex and general mayhem, of course!

Do you have any quirks while writing?

No, but my cats do. If I’m working, they insist on sitting on my keyboard. Never when I’m just faffing around on the internet. I had to put a box on my desk to distract them from their evil scheme.

What are your hopes for the future?

I hope I can keep writing forever. We’re currently looking at buying our first home, and the mortgage people asked me when I plan to retire. The answer is never. I never want to retire, because putting stories into the world brings me so much joy.

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

Don’t measure yourself after anyone else’s goals. Sometimes we forget the sheer magic of what we’re doing, sometimes it doesn’t seem enough to just be happy. Remember what made you start writing to begin with, and nurture that flame in your gut every moment of every day.

Do you have anything to say to your fans?

It’s so hard to put into words everything I want to say to the readers who support me, who buy my books, who are as excited about the stories I create as I am. You mean the world to me. Sometimes you send me an email to tell me a bit about yourself, or how you loved one of my books, and sometimes I’m swamped and stressed out, and I don’t always reply, but I read every one. And I am so, so thankful.
