Please give a warm welcome to author

B. Livingstone

Tell us a bit about yourself

I am a US Northern Native turned US Southern Bell. A lover of books, coffee, movies, and most importantly my family. I am a mother of 3 beautiful babies, ages  12, 5, and 6 months, plus the oldest of all – The Husband – oh and can’t forget the fur-baby. I am currently writing in the paranormal world with plans to enter other genres in the future. Regardless of what genres I’m writing in though, the one goal I have is to create characters you can connect with. Love or hate them… Just connect.

Have you always wanted to become an author?

The short answer, no. I have always loved to tell stories but growing up with dyslexia I had a very hard time with reading, spelling, and just writing in general. I never had the courage to put my stories to paper. It wasn’t until my daughter needed to find an outlet for her anxiety and depression that I found the drive and push needed to get outside my comfort zone. I challenged my daughter to use her writing as an outlet for everything she was feeling, to write about them. She countered with a challenge of her own, agreeing to try if I agreed to finally publish a story. As a parent, we want to inspire courage and faith in our children, to always believe in themselves no matter the challenges life brings. So practicing what I preach, I rose to her challenge and hit that publish button my first book October 31, 2020.

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

My daughter inspired my current series.

I wanted to write something that would inspire anyone dealing with PTSD, loss, depression, thoughts of suicide, and addiction. Those who feel like their world has crumbled so far into darkness that there is no way out. I wrote wanting to inspire my daughter, to remind her that no matter how dark her world becomes there is always a light in the darkness. Granted her version of the storyline is more YA than my Adult Reverse Harem PNR.

What are you working on now?

Currently, I am working on a few different stories. First is a spin-off series of Shadowcrest Pack called Norse Blessed. Book one of this series is Death’s Gift which is a backstory of one of the characters from Shadowcrest Pack. Book two will go hand in hand with Shattered Pack, another book I am currently working on which is the third and final installment of Shadowcrest Pack.

Then I have 2 other storylines that I am currently plotting out. One is a charity book I am hoping to release in October. The other I am hoping include in an antho next year.

Do you have any quirks while working?

I need noise in the background. I can’t focus in the dead silence. Music sometimes helps but the TV is my best writing companion.

What are your hopes for the future?

I hope to be able to keep going. To keep adding to the current universe that I’ve started and move into new ones and new genres. I want to keep creating what people want to keep reading. More than all of this I hope to inspire. To inspire others to reach for their dreams, even those dreams they never thought to have.

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

Be careful. Do your research. Do not be afraid to self-publish. Ask questions.

Do you have anything to say to your followers?

None of this would be possible without you. Words could never express the level of gratitude I have for your support, your words of encouragement, and your overall presence. Without your willingness to give a baby author a shot I wouldn’t be able to keep writing. From the bottom of my heart… Thank you!!
