Vacation in Istria, Croatia 4 #photography

This trip was to the town of Motovun. I was lazy and stayed home at the hotel that day, but I thought I’d share the pictures my mom took.

Motovun is a medieval town that grew up on the site of an ancient city called Castellieri. It is on a hill 270 metres (886 feet) above sea level with houses scattered all over the hill. In ancient times, both Celts and Illyrians built their fortresses at the location of present-day Motovun. The name of the village is also of Celtic origin, derived from Montona, meaning “a town in the hills”. Source: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motovun

The view of the Lim Fjord from above.

Lim Fiord is part of the 35 km long Lim Valley (Draga), that stretches almost to the center of Istria, to the town of Pazin. The Fiord itself is a little bit longer than 10 km, it is 30 meters deep and its widest part is around 600 meters wide. From both sides very steep mountains rise, in some parts even up tp 100 meters. We had a small break at the end of the fjord before lunch.

On the way back along the riviera we visited the town Vrsar. I really tried to capture the colours of the water, but it changed all the time. It was gorgeous and crystal clear.

One of the days in our vacation we visited Pula with the beautiful amphitheatre.

The Pula Arena (CroatianPulska ArenaItalianArena di Pola) is a Roman amphitheatre located in PulaCroatia. It is the only remaining Roman amphitheatre to have four side towers entirely preserved. It was constructed between 27 BC and AD 68,[1] and is among the world’s six largest surviving Roman arenas.[1] The arena is also the country’s best-preserved ancient monument.

Behind the amphitheatre was a church. Around the amphitheatre was a garden full of gorgeous herbs like rosemary and lavender. On the picture below is a rendition of Pula.

He is regarded as a pioneer and visionary of modern space flight and is chiefly remembered for his work addressing the long-term human habitation of space. Text Source Wikipedia

From Pula we continued to the city Rovijn

I let my mom climbe the hill up to the church while I took a break with some refreshments.

Vacation in Istria, Croatia #photography

My mom and I got to go on our first vacation in two years. We took a trip to Istria in Northern Croatia. We travelled through Germany, Austria, Slovenia and ending in Croatia. The Croatian people was so sweet and welcoming. The crystal clear waters of the adriatic sea was amazing and the climate was wonderful.

There was still snow in the mountains in Austria as we passed through.

On the other side of the trees seen above, you find the rocky beach. All the beaches in Istria is rocky.

Bremen Cathedral #photography

Bremen Cathedral (German: Bremer Dom or St. Petri Dom zu Bremen), dedicated to St. Peter, is a church situated in the market square in the center of Bremen, in northern Germany.

In general, Bremen Cathedral is a medieval building. The oldest visible structures are the two crypts. The last parts built in romanesque style and in sandstone were the lower storeys of the western façade and the western towers. Since the late 1220s, vaults and walls were erected in bricks, partly hidden by sheets of sandstone. Only the outer wall of the southern row of chapels shows unhidden bricks. St Peter’s is one of the largest historic brick structures in Europe, but it comprises too many stone structures to be subsumed to Brick Gothic. During the great restoration of 1888 to 1901, the western towers and most of the western façade were rebuilt relatively close to previous structures. The crossing tower was a new addition, using the medieval crossing tower of Worms Cathedral as an example. The roofs above the transepts and the northern aisle were redesigned. Source
