Author Crystal North #interview

Please give a warm welcome to

Tell us a bit about yourself

Hey, thanks for having me. My pen name is Crystal North and I’m 32, but I don’t feel a day older than 21 – well, until I have to exercise or bend or something and then it’s a whole other story!

I’m from the U.K. and I live in the Devonshire countryside but not too far from the sea, which I think is the best of both worlds. I absolutely love it and I wouldn’t swap it for anywhere else in the UK (although I would love to live abroad).

I have a BA Hons degree in English Language and English Literature, and I also have a PGCE in English alongside ten years secondary school teaching experience, which is what I’m currently doing. I’m married to my sister’s husband’s brother (it’s not as weird as it sounds, but I like messing with people!) We have a baby boy who is fifteen months old, and a furbaby puppy. Writing is very much a huge part of my life, but I have to squeeze it in around all of that other craziness!

°

°

Have you always wanted to become an author?

It sounds cliché but I have always written, so I consider myself a writer. When I was small I used to make up stories and as a teenager I wrote lyrics, stories, poetry and an entire book which I’m relieved to say will never see the light of day because it’s saved on a floppy disk somewhere, never to be recovered. I never planned to be an ‘author’ and I still consider myself to be a person who just happens to write. Maybe when I have more books out I’ll consider myself an actual author? Who knows!

°

°

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

Hehehe which one? I’ll tell you a little about the inspiration for my Goddess series that I’m working on. It’s set in the valley of a place in North Devon that I love to visit, and it’s completely inspired by nature, the elements, crystals and magic – all things that are dear to me. I’m so excited about this series but it’s a long way off being done because I want it to be perfect!

°

°

What are you working on now?

I have so many works on the go. I’m obviously working on the sequel to Vengeance, which is called Atonement. I’m finishing off my Christmas release. Then I have a massive calendar of releases for 2020 which includes two collaborative series / anthologies that I’m super excited about (something for Valentine’s Day and later in the year a time travel RH novel as part of a collaboration series). I’m going to be busy!

°

°

Do you have any quirks while writing?

Not really, but I do write entirely on my phone, so that’s pretty unusual. Vengeance was a big book too, so I feel like it was an additional achievement. I work best under pressure and working to a deadline and seem to do crazy things like wake up in the morning with an idea for a book, contact my cover designer and ask her to make me something, and then commit to writing and publishing in under 7 days. I’m crazy! I don’t know how my team put up with me to be honest!

°

°

What are your hopes for the future?

I hope that I can grow my following and continue to share my work with my fans. I would love to have more people read and review my works from around the globe, and the dream is to just keep being inspired enough to produce new works. At the moment, that’s not a problem, but I’d love to have the time to get every idea down on paper!

°

°

Do you have any advice for new authors in the publishing world?

Never read a negative review (says she!). You can’t be everything to everyone, but if you do you, and are your own unapologetic authentic self, you will find your tribe and your followers. What we do isn’t for everyone, but our fans love it, and that should be good enough for us!

°

°

Do you have anything to say to your readers?

So much! Where to start? Thank you so much for reading and loving my work. They’re truly labours of love for me, so the fact that you like them so much too means a lot to me! Thank you for taking the time to review, promote and recommend my work – that means more to authors than you’ll ever realise! And finally, thank you so much for your patience, support and encouragement while waiting for the next one!

Author Kendra Moreno #interview

Please give a warm welcome to

Tell us a bit about yourself

This question always makes me scramble to find things interesting about me. lol. so, I’m an author and I write in multiple genres including, but not limited to, Dark Fantasy, Steampunk, and Paranormal. I’m a mom to a crazy active toddler boy and a Great Dane. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Creative Writing and Marketing. When I’m not writing, I’m usually doing other things like designing, painting, crafting, and even doing those fancy designer cookies when I feel up to the task. lol. Umm, I’m also a certified scuba diver and I got to dive with sharks before which was awesome.

°

°

Have you always wanted to become an author?

I’ve always been a writer but I never understood I could pursue writing as a career until I started college. I always wanted to be an author, but I never had it up there as what I was gonna pursue. Would you believe my first major was zoology? lol. Eventually, I got smart and realized I wasn’t chasing my dreams and I dove in head first.

°

°

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

So my current one is my fairytale retellings. Vicious as a Darling is book 1 in the Daughters of Neverland series, which is a spin off of the Sons of Wonderland series. I’ve always been a fairytale retelling fan, especially of the darker spins. I love horror so the idea was to thread horror elements into the story while it could still be considered Romance. And so these Horror Romance fairytale twists were born. 😀 For Neverland, I wanted to do something completely different from anything I’ve seen before (there are so many retellings) and I think everyone is really gonna love the horror twist on everything.

°

°

What are you working on now?

Right now, in addition to working on Vicious as a Darling, I’m also working on a sequel to my Steampunk RH, Clockwork Butterfly. It was meant to be a standalone but due to popular demand, Vic and her guys are getting another adventure. I’m also working on a new steampunk series that’s menage. The Prequel, Gears of Winter, released in an Anthology at the beginning of November. Poppy Woods and I are also working on a secret project I think everyone will love.

°

°

Do you have any quirks while writing?

I’m not sure if I have any unusual quirks. My playlists might be considered that I guess. For every book I write, I have a specific playlist for it. But I’m a fan of instrumental music. So I have a lot of battle and war drum music in my playlists. My favorite is Audiomachine! They produce some kickass stuff. ::whispers:: I listen to it at full volume in my car with the windows down and I get the best looks when they hear war drums.

°

°

What are your hopes for the future?

I think the hope is to always take my passion and turn it into something that not only supports my family, but that I can show my son one day that I achieved my dreams. Right now, my next goal is to be able to claim International Bestseller. I also just want to keep writing things I love.

°

°

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

There are three important things when publishing your first book. Cover, Blurb, and editing. Without a good cover, people might not look at your book. We’re all guilty of judging them by the covers and a great one will sell the book easier. If the blurb doesn’t catch their attention next, they might bypass it. If you’re not great at blurbs, there are services that will help or even asking other authors or friends for advice is fantastic. And never skimp on editing. It’s a chunk of change but it’s worth it to put out a quality book rather than having reviews come in claiming the editing was bad or to get quality notices from amazon. If you do those three things, readers will definitely want to read your story and will come back for more.

°

°

Do you have anything to say to your readers?

Without my readers, I wouldn’t be anywhere near where I am. I was so worried when I started publishing that I was too weird, that my stories were too different, and y’all embraced me so hard and have never let me go. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for sticking around, for trying new worlds I write, for reviewing the books when they come out. Because of you, I able to keep doing what I love, and that makes me so happy. Let’s all stay a little mad, and a whole lot of awesome!

°

Tell us a bit about yourself

I am a former aspiring screenwriter who is a wife, mom to one son and avid reader. I have lived in southern America my whole life and some might say my accent borders on the ridiculous! I’m a trivia geek and my favorite spot to be at is the beach.

°

Have you always wanted to become an author?

I’ve written in some form since I was six. My favorite thing as a child was making up creative stories, usually fantasy. High school was all about poetry and college screenwriting. Writing is my escape.

°

°

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

Two things actually lead me to this book. I started reading reverse harem about a year ago, mainly bully. I was addicted but noticed it always took place mainly in high school setting. Being older I craved an older set of characters so I wasn’t Mrs. Robinson when I was crushing on the guys. Secondly I worked in corporate America for ten years in a more senior role towards the end. Women need more respect and acknowledgment. Less than five percent of women in our country are in an executive level position such as CEO or COO. My goal was to make a comment on this divide by establishing a FMC looking to be the head of a company. We need more women to be the boss.

°

What are you working on now?

My series is three parts so I am finishing the first book and rapidly heading into the next book.

°

Do you have any quirks while writing?

Yes I am completely OCD in so many ways. I need to be alone, in a silent and still environment. Yet I have an appointed playlist for each chapter I’m writing. I need sexy music when I write sexy, angst when I write angst and empowering when I write empowering. I’m also weird about making sure I have two beverages (usually bottle of water and cup of coffee) within reach.

°

°

What are your hopes for the future?

Truthfully I hope to be an author readers follow and get excited when they see a new release from. My main goal is to be well received and respected.

°

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

Never be afraid to reach out! I reached out before I started writing. This is such an amazing community to be apart of. Authors will help you, you will be taken into a group and you need only ask questions. Everyone is here to help. Develop a squad, your squad will be your best friends and lifelines. Also, ask! If you don’t understand how something works just ask. There are so many wonderful people to help. Do not be afraid to ask for help.

°

Do you have anything to say to your readers?

Yes, I love you all so much, none of this is possible without your support. You bring the joy everyday when I need it. I’m so immensely grateful for you to read what I write. You’re my heroes.

Sarah Klinger PA #interview

Please give a warm welcome to

How long have you been a PA?

Started July 2019 (about 4months)

Have you always wanted to be a PA?

I have always loved the idea of working as an assistant, but it wasn’t until recently that I found my true passion for being a personal assistant for authors. I have always been an avid reader so being able to not only support those authors but keep the chaos of their lives to a minimum is a perfect fit. The satisfaction of pulling off everything from a book release party to organizing the details of a book signing trip is unmatched. So while I haven’t always wanted to be a personal assistant for authors, I am so glad that I found this perfect fit.

What do you do as a PA?

I do many things. My main thing is to help keep authors fix their Chaos.

What do you do as a PA?

As a PA, my responsibilities are numerous. My main job is to fix the chaos of being an author and keep them sane! Lol. I think that each experience is different but I focus on creating teams of individuals to promote and push forward authors on their current projects, organize their goals moving forward, and keeping them motivated.

Do you have any quirks while working?

Yes, I have spreadsheets to organize spreadsheets

What are your hopes for the future?

To work with more authors and to help my authors grow and be successful.

Do you have any advice for new PA’s?

Build a relationship with other PA’s around you it is always great to share tricks and have someone who you can lean on for help if you are not sure how to do something.

Are you available for new work or booked solid?

I am available for new work.

Tell us a bit about yourself

Goodness, I’m not that interesting. I’m a half demon sadist who enjoys tormenting my readers with good ol’ cliffhangers and tormenting the characters you love most. Really though, I’m a regular mom who supports my family and does her best to get by. Also, I love people. I love making friends. And I am always willing to offer a cuddle.

°

°

Have you always wanted to become an author?

No, I fell into this career after writing fanfiction for fun. People liked my words, so I expanded and listened to feedback and grew.

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

I have the most interesting dreams. I take bits from them and pants the rest. I’m all about the pantsing writing style.

°

°

What are you working on now?

It’s a deep, dark secret, but I can tell you this. It will blow your mind.

°

°

Do you have any quirks while writing?

LOL. Don’t we all? I dress like a slob and wear free tee-shirts. I also use a ridiculous amount of post-its that have nothing to do with my writing. They are just there, on my desk, where I won’t read them, and they serve little actual purpose.

°

°

What are your hopes for the future?

Justice.

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

This is one of my favorite questions. YES! I have great advice (I promise). If you are new to the writing world, do what I and many other authors you love did: post your first work for free on sites like Fictionpress and Literotica. Get feedback. Grow from that feedback (even though sometimes it might be hard to hear). And above all, read Stephen King’s ON WRITING. Best book I’ve ever come across that really grasps the craft.

°

°

Do you have anything to say to your readers?

Gosh, I have so many things I want to say. Thank you, first off, for supporting me. Thank you for doing your own research when things got ugly. Thank you for all the love you sent when my health went to shit. Thank you for the never-ending support. Really, I felt and still feel that love. Thank you for having fun with me, joking with me, letting me tease you. Thank you for joining the Addison Cain’s Dark Longings Lounge so we could get to know one another. Thank you for following me on facebook and subscribing to my silly newsletters.

THANK YOU for being you. Thank you for letting me get to know you.

Author Erica Andrews #interview

Please give a warm welcome to

Tell us a bit about yourself
Erica Andrews is a mom of four girls and loves coffee, doughnuts and more coffee.
She married her high school sweetheart at eighteen and they’ve been together since she was 16. Her and her husband are the modern day fairy tale. She loves to read, break out dancing and embarrassing her children. So a normal mom. And she thinks her kids rock though don’t tell them.

°

°

Have you always wanted to become an author?

And yes I’ve always wanted to be an author. But it took my kids pushing me to take the leap.

°

°

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

And as for inspiration, I think each book has a piece of me or things I’ve been through in my life.

°

°

Do you have any quirks while writing?

Quirks? Well….I always have to have a playlist and I always have to have a show that I obsess about to keep me from overthinking things or get stressed.

What are your hopes for the future?

My hope for the future is to show my kids that you can do what you love.

°

°

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

And my advice would be that always have author friends you can talk to. It doesn’t have to be a ton of friends but having one or two close ones can make all the difference.

°

°

Do you have anything to say to your readers?

Hmm…to my readers? I hope you enjoy the different series that I have written as I love to write every genre. And thank you for your support and happy readings.

Tell us a bit about yourself

I am a stay at home mom of two teenage boys. I love coffee and reading (read over 800 books last year) and am a sucker for strong female characters. Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Claire from Outlander, and my personal favorite Anne from Anne of Green Gables.

°

°

Have you always wanted to become an author?

I don’t know that I always wanted to be an author per se. but I’ve always written. Short stories, poems. I’m the girl who wrote a novel when signing her friends yearbooks. It was always just for me… until I got involved in the RH community and received encouragement to share my work.

°

°

What are you working on now?

I am currently writing book 3 of my Thrive series. Titled Hunters of Spring, is the conclusion. it is a suspense story, about a Texan woman surviving a pandemic.
Literally, my inspiration came from a picture on Pinterest— an angel statue with a sad face and arm outstretched.
That statue is part of the second chapter of Reds of Summer when my MC has to venture into the deserted town via the cemetery.

°

°

Do you have any quirks while writing?

I listen to music while writing… often when reading a word will stick out and I’ll find I’ve zoned out and am ‘writing’ the next chapter of my book.
I try not to read the genre I’m writing … I don’t want to be influenced.

°

°

What are your hopes for the future?

In terms of writing I just want people to enjoy my books and to enjoy writing them. I don’t expect to make a ton of money or be recognized or famous.
I have at least 4 books planned for next year and just today thought up a new idea listening to Billy Joel. Lol

°

°

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

My advice is to put the words on paper. Don’t worry about the fine points, just get your storyline down. The rest can come when you revise. Whether or not you get a lot of readers, any story you write is an accomplishment.
DON’T READ YOUR REVIEWS

°

Do you have anything to say to your readers?

To my readers: thank you. I am humbled by your support and love for my babies that I’ve shared. You are awesome and I love you. All the words are for you.

Tell us a bit about yourself

I am a child at heart, at least that’s how my family always likes to describe me. My friends call me cooky, or the energizer bunny when I get excited. I say that I’m an awkward introvert.

°

°

Have you always wanted to become an author?

As to wanting to be an author: I have always wanted to write, at least from the 4th grade. I remember writing an essay on what I wanted to be when I grew up. I put down that I wanted to go to Harvard to become a writer. Haha. A few decades later and a degree from community college later, I’ve published my first book.

°

°

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

The Ghost Dud Series came to me a few years ago out of nowhere after I visited a supposed haunted bar. The characters just continue to grow as I write it.

°

What are you working on now?

I recently finished my second book that I co-wrote with my best friend. It’s in the editors hands now. It’ll be published on my birthday, December 20th. I’m also writing the second Ghost Dud book.

°

°

Do you have any quirks while writing?

Quirks….do you mean like I have to have a lemonade at least once a day when I’m writing? Nope, not at all.

°

What are your hopes for the future?

Hopes for the future. That’s a loaded question. I would love to continue writing. It’d be amazing if I could do this as a full time thing rather than on my days off. Writing is something that makes me feel completed.

°

°

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

My advice is do your research. I’m still learning. It’s not easy. This is a second job. Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Interact with readers, that’s always so much fun.

°

Do you have anything to say to your readers?

Thank you so much for supporting me. I really hope that you enjoy my books. It means the world to me when someone says they’ve enjoyed my book. I’ve loved every single one of my reviews, even if they weren’t that great because it makes me want to improve!

°

Have you always wanted to become an author?

Honestly no. Not really. I took creative writing in high school LOVED it but by time I graduated I wanted to be an editor. Fast forward 10 years and I meet this amazing person named Kat Blak. We start talking and on a Facebook post where it ask you to write a story based on _____ statement. We went back and forth and just kept going on our own. Decided to give writing a go and look where we are! About to release our first book.

°

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

Fertility issues play close to my heart. When kat came out with this idea we immediately started writing it because it was something relatable in an abstract sense.

°

What are you working on now?

We just finished The Cure Within. It’s still going through edits and alpha/beta reading. We do have another book in the works but I’ll save that for another day. Just get ready for a whirlwind down in New Orleans.

°

°

Do you have any quirks while writing?

I MUST have music playing while I write. Also gum or something to chew/snack on is a must have too. I really like having my bestie Kat to talk to as well.

°

What are your hopes for the future?

With regards to writing, I don’t really know. We started this journey as a way to help with our depression and anxiety.

°

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

I am still learning about the publishing world..so please give me advice lol
