Author B. Livingstone #interview

Please give a warm welcome to author

B. Livingstone

Tell us a bit about yourself

I am a US Northern Native turned US Southern Bell. A lover of books, coffee, movies, and most importantly my family. I am a mother of 3 beautiful babies, ages  12, 5, and 6 months, plus the oldest of all – The Husband – oh and can’t forget the fur-baby. I am currently writing in the paranormal world with plans to enter other genres in the future. Regardless of what genres I’m writing in though, the one goal I have is to create characters you can connect with. Love or hate them… Just connect.

Have you always wanted to become an author?

The short answer, no. I have always loved to tell stories but growing up with dyslexia I had a very hard time with reading, spelling, and just writing in general. I never had the courage to put my stories to paper. It wasn’t until my daughter needed to find an outlet for her anxiety and depression that I found the drive and push needed to get outside my comfort zone. I challenged my daughter to use her writing as an outlet for everything she was feeling, to write about them. She countered with a challenge of her own, agreeing to try if I agreed to finally publish a story. As a parent, we want to inspire courage and faith in our children, to always believe in themselves no matter the challenges life brings. So practicing what I preach, I rose to her challenge and hit that publish button my first book October 31, 2020.

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

My daughter inspired my current series.

I wanted to write something that would inspire anyone dealing with PTSD, loss, depression, thoughts of suicide, and addiction. Those who feel like their world has crumbled so far into darkness that there is no way out. I wrote wanting to inspire my daughter, to remind her that no matter how dark her world becomes there is always a light in the darkness. Granted her version of the storyline is more YA than my Adult Reverse Harem PNR.

What are you working on now?

Currently, I am working on a few different stories. First is a spin-off series of Shadowcrest Pack called Norse Blessed. Book one of this series is Death’s Gift which is a backstory of one of the characters from Shadowcrest Pack. Book two will go hand in hand with Shattered Pack, another book I am currently working on which is the third and final installment of Shadowcrest Pack.

Then I have 2 other storylines that I am currently plotting out. One is a charity book I am hoping to release in October. The other I am hoping include in an antho next year.

Do you have any quirks while working?

I need noise in the background. I can’t focus in the dead silence. Music sometimes helps but the TV is my best writing companion.

What are your hopes for the future?

I hope to be able to keep going. To keep adding to the current universe that I’ve started and move into new ones and new genres. I want to keep creating what people want to keep reading. More than all of this I hope to inspire. To inspire others to reach for their dreams, even those dreams they never thought to have.

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

Be careful. Do your research. Do not be afraid to self-publish. Ask questions.

Do you have anything to say to your followers?

None of this would be possible without you. Words could never express the level of gratitude I have for your support, your words of encouragement, and your overall presence. Without your willingness to give a baby author a shot I wouldn’t be able to keep writing. From the bottom of my heart… Thank you!!

Author L.E. Martin #interview

Please give a warm welcome to author L.E. Martin

Tell us a bit about yourself

Hi. I’m L.E. Martin but most people call me “Ellie” or “Marty”, those nicknames kinda stuck. I’ve been writing for over ten years now. I have four books out in my Laying it Bare series with another coming in April. I also have a Romantic Sci-Fi titled The Renters available. I work full time and write all weekend. I love to bake and wish I had more time to play the piano. I am a chocoholic and wished I lived somewhere warmer – I’m not a fan of cold and snow.

Have you always wanted to become an author?

I have always been a reader but just in the last ten years or so I have become an avid reader and the more I read the more I wanted to create my own stories. Ideas would pop into my head and I began to roll with it.

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

For my Laying it Bare series, it started out as a funny exchange of text messages between a friend of mine and me over getting a friend request from a really odd name with an anime picture for the profile. By the end of our texts, she told me I should write a story about that. I started writing and Laying it Bare with a Friend Request was born. And I now have 4 books out currently in that series (all stand-alones) with the next one coming out in April.

What are you working on now?

I have changed gears and am currently working on a paranormal romance about witches and demons. I don’t have many details yet as the book is still in its infancy. I also don’t know if it will be a solo book or turn into a duet or trio. I’m waiting to see where the characters take me.

Do you have any quirks while working?

Yes. I have to really force myself to stay put for long periods of time – even when the characters are excitedly talking to me. I swear I have adult ADD. It can’t be ADHD because I don’t have the energy to be hyperactive. But it not unusual for me to go bake something while I am writing. And then come back to it.

What are your hopes for the future?

I’m hoping to gain more readers and hope to get to meet them too at a future author signing. With COVID, the one I had been planning to attend was postponed. I would love to be able to interact more with my readers.

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

It’s a difficult and time consuming job but so worthwhile. Especially when you get those readers who really connect to your stories. Make sure you do your research and give your all for everything. Taking short cuts only ends up hurting you in the end.

Do you have anything to say to your followers?

Thank you for being a part of my world. I hope you love my characters as much as I do and hang around for the fun yet to come.

Author Melody Novak #interview

Please give a warm welcome to author Melody Novak

Have you always wanted to become an author?

YES! Ever since I was a little girl I was the one with her nose stuck in a book, especially anything fantasy. If it had dragons in it, I was there. Then I discovered romance… and then reverse harem, where the girl doesn’t have to choose. I’ve wanted to write my own series for over two years now and I finally got brave enough to start when I had some time off in 2020.

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

I woke up in the middle of the night with the whole concept in my head: elemental dragon clans trying to survive the greedy City’s purge of wild magic, Fae in retreat from a broken and bruised world, and one plucky Fae dragon who thinks she’s a human and doesn’t know her own powers (yet!) but can unite the resistance and bring down the City’s reign of terror. I spent two hours writing down every detail. I think my family thought I was going crazy! But I knew I just HAD to write it.

What are you working on now?

I’m finishing up The Fae Dragon’s Harem, which is my first series. Books 1 and 2 (Drake’s Flame and Gale Force) are available now, with book 3 (Heart’s Locke) coming on March 1st, book 4 (Shattered Clay) on April 1st, and book 5 (Bliss Evermore) on May 1st. Then I have several other series planned in the same world of Aviare…

Do you have any quirks while working?

One of my friends started a “drink more water” challenge and I joined in last year, and it makes writing so much faster. It’s like magic! So I’m sitting here with two huge bottles of water (and music to drown out the, ahem, intrusive non-book world) and if I’m realllllly superduper focused I’ll try to drink from them both at once and spill water all over myself. NOT the fun kind of cold shower that my heroes need in my books…

What are your hopes for the future?

I have several more stories to tell in the world of Aviare. I would love to explore some of the other realms, especially the Fae kingdom. And I want all my kickass girls to get a harem of their own! Now that I’ve started writing I don’t think I can stop. I just want to tell alllllll the stories!

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

Just tell the story you’ve always wanted to read. When you can’t sleep because you’re so excited about an idea, you’ll find a way to juggle everything else. Take your own passion as seriously as you take everyone around you and make time for it. Your story matters!

Do you have anything to say to your followers?

Thank you!!! I’ve always dreamed of writing a fantasy/paranormal story, and getting to write a reverse harem romance at the same time is just heaven. If you liked Drake’s Flame, go read Gale Force and then stick around because I’m only just getting started. There are many more secrets to tell and adventures to embark upon in the world of Aviare…

Author Katelyn Beckett #interview

Please give a warm welcome to Katelyn Beckett

Tell us a bit about yourself

Hi, I’m Katelyn. I fell in love with romance in 2012 and only recently began publishing reverse harem romance books. The genre is amazing and full of incredible readers who are always searching for more. I’m just delighted to be a part of it.

Have you always wanted to become an author?

Absolutely. It’s the air I breathe.

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

Her Secret Menagerie sprung from a tease between myself and a friend. I joked that there had to be a sweet romance series called Puppy Love. When I looked, there wasn’t. I was shocked. I love shifters and I thought it’d be a perfect fit. Why not run with it? I considered making the series about one girl and countless guys, but Sadie ended up deciding that she wanted to have a pack, not everyone else, too. So, Olivia, Nicole, and so many other wonderful girls took or are taking their spots with their handsome boys.

What are you working on now?

More Her Secret Menagerie, More In Love & War, and a half-dozen other plots. It’s going to be a busy year, but I’m striving to make books that are both sexy and fun. It’s a careful balance.

Do you have any quirks while working?

You know that bisexual “we sit like pretzels” meme?

What are your hopes for the future?

Other than “I hope people like what I’m writing”? Settling down. My spouse retires from the military soon and we get to find an actual home. It’s a little overwhelming, but we’re both looking forward to it.

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

Write your soul on a page. Somebody’s going to love it. And don’t be afraid of saying you’re wrong. Basic B*tch’s release went to pieces because Amazon ate half the book. As soon as I heard about it, I tried to let everybody know that I was on the case and working to fix the issues. Always reach out to your readers in a situation like that. I had some amazing readers come through and tell people, in their reviews, that I was working to correct the disappearance of half the book. I couldn’t be more grateful to them and, had I hunkered in horrified silence, they would have never been able to help like that.

And never be afraid of honing your craft further. Authors are always learning, evolving, and becoming more than they were yesterday. Don’t get stuck in the past. Embrace knowing that you will never be finished. It’s a beautiful thing to realize that there is always something more.

Do you have anything to say to your followers?

Y’all brought me through a rough 2020 and I hope I helped bring you along, too. I’m excited to see what we can do together in 2021. Love you ❤

Author Nicola Rosa #interview

Please give a warm welcome to author Nicola Rose

Tell us a bit about yourself

I live in the UK with my husband and two sons. I’m a total boardgame geek. I collect tarantulas, we currently have 10! Mostly, I love to stay home reading, writing, and playing – but I do also love to get the family out into the countryside for walks and mountain-biking.

Have you always wanted to become an author?

I’ve certainly always been creative and enjoyed writing stories, but I wanted to be a professional photographer. And I was for a while, until the children came along and I found that staying home to write stories was much more agreeable than traipsing around at all hours with my camera!

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

The inspiration for my latest book came from the cover! I saw a premade cover that I loved, purchased it, and the entire story flowed from there. All I knew was that the heroine would be a genie and that it would be my first reverse harem. It’s such a striking cover!

What are you working on now?

I have two projects on the go at the moment. Firstly, I’ve been accepted to write in the shared world of a well-known author (but I can’t say who just yet as it’s not been announced!) so I’m working on that. I can say that it’s my first contemporary romance, full of angst and steam, and a second-chance at love.

I’m also plotting a fae reverse harem! So excited to finally dive into faery realms!

Do you have any quirks while working?

Not really, other than the endless battle to avoid procrastination and actually write, but I think that’s a shared problem for all authors!

What are your hopes for the future?

To keep writing! To make it big. To have my books made into movies. You know, the usual…

I’d also like to write some traditional mainstream fantasy.

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

Find your tribe! The author and reader communities on social media are amazing. Interact and find your people. Learn from them, keep striving for better. Always support other authors, spread the love, and avoid all drama and negativity like the plague. Oh, and keep writing 😊

Do you have anything to say to your followers?

Massive thanks for your support. I’m constantly blown away by the love. Every single review, interaction, and message all mean the world to me. I can’t ever thank you enough!

My name is Thessaly, and at 22, I still don’t know what I want to be when I grow up. Living with my parents, going to college, and hanging out with friends is pretty much the extent of my mediocre life. The biggest drama I have going on with me is fighting a growing attraction toward my best friend Bram. Oh and avoiding needles–specifically ones that draw my blood.

See, on January 27, 2044, the DNA Networking Act was set into action. This new law provides those in authority to gather genetic information from citizens in an effort to achieve nationwide resistance to diseases and other weaknesses. Sounds promising, right?

Maybe. But to me, it infringes on a person’s freedom. The act prohibits citizens from declining to undergo genetic testing when summoned, and the deadline for everyone to voluntarily submit a DNA sample is fast approaching. I’m avoiding the process as long as possible.

Until one night the unthinkable happens: I’m ruthlessly abducted. Bleeding is no longer voluntary… it’s a requirement. And as it turns out, the four guys who captured me aren’t anything like I expected.

Author Allie Rose #interview

Please give a warm welcome to author Allie Rose

Tell us a bit about yourself

Hi everyone! My name is Allie Rose! I am a newbie author working on her first book. I also do PA work and am a full-time diesel mechanic, and I pet sit for a ton of amazing critters! I fell in love with reading in 5th grade when my mom gifted me a copy of Erin Hunter’s Into the Wild, book 1 in the Warrior’s series. Even now it is one of my all-time favorite books. Flash forward to about 2 years ago when I fell in love with the indie author community. I found this whole world devoted to them on FB and decided to get more involved. I found my first PA job and the rest is history. Due to Covid, I’ve decided to take a shot at my writing goal. I have two books I am currently working on and I’m super excited to share about the one I have up for Pre-Order RIGHT NOW!! Squeal! I’m still in shock that I have made it to this point!

Have you always wanted to become an author?

No, it was never something I even thought about doing as I grew up. It took until High School I think for me to really even consider the idea of wanting to write. But it only recently that I discovered that you could publish through Amazon vs trying to do a traditional publisher. That was when I really decided I wanted to write. I got started as a PA to help out authors and to start creating a network that I could use to help myself when I decided to start writing.

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

I fell in love with the cover! And the story kind of built up from there. I have always loved elemental magic type books so the fact that I am now writing one is amazing!

What are you working on now?

I am working on my first book, The Spiritus Dagger, Book 1 in The Edge of Magic Series. I am about 10k words in and loving how it’s developing. My alpha reader seems to be enjoying what I come up with so it’s very encouraging!

Do you have any quirks while working?

I have a hard time shutting my brain off to write. I end up thinking about nine billion other things EXCEPT actually writing. So I have found that if I stick my headphones in and blast upbeat music that I can just focus on writing and drown out all my other thoughts.

What are your hopes for the future?

I am hoping that I can get a decent following from those that end up reading and liking this first book when it’s out that they stick with me as I continue. I want to be able to write full time at some point. My current job is super hard on my body and I want to be able to find something less abrasive and the idea of writing all the time is super exciting. It would also free me up to be able to start traveling with my mom when she’s ready to do that.

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

Be patient. I know it can be discouraging when you are first starting out but you will find readers. I’d also suggest finding other authors that you can lean on when you are feeling down. Self-publishing isn’t an easy thing and the more people you have that will cheer you on or celebrate small milestones will make a world of difference as you start or continue your journey!

Do you have anything to say to your followers?

THANK YOU! I really appreciate all of you who have pre-ordered or followed me. I know taking a chance on a newbie author without anything out yet can be hard so I really can’t say enough how much I APPRECIATE you! And hopefully, I won’t let you down!!

Author Crea Reitan #interview

Please give a warm welcome to author Crea Reitan

Tell us a bit about yourself

My pen name is Crea Reitan. I live in upstate New York with my husband and husky. I’m an avid reader who has an obsessive amount of dragons, puzzles, Harry Potter paraphernalia, and tea. My harem of book boyfriends grows with each new series I find – the more psychotic, the better. I sleep with more than a dozen pillows, six blankets, and my room hovering somewhere around 55*F year round! No, my husband does not fit in the bed, too, though I make room for the dog.

Have you always wanted to become an author?

I have been writing since I was seven. I’m not sure at which point in my life I actually decided that I’d like to publish someday but it must have been sometime between the angsty high school poems and the early-twenties fanfiction. I loved writing so much that I took a job with a literary agent (have worked with her for seven years now) and pursued my Master’s Degree in Creative Writing (received in 2018). And still I only made the decision to publish when I was stuck home for six months due to the pandemic. It seemed, with all that time on my hands, it was the right time to follow my dream!

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

This series is a followup from my first completed series, Chronicles of Blood. I intended for that series to be nicely wound up in four books but… I have an issue containing my stories as they should be. It grew too big and now I need to write a follow up series.

BUT, my interest in Wonderland has been a long term love-affair. It’s such an easy place to start writing because you can literally take the story anywhere. Anything goes in Wonderland. Your freedom to create is endless. After reading at least a dozen Wonderland retellings, I decided I needed to write my own.

What are you working on now?

The first book in my Chronicles of Madness series is titled, Finding Nonsense. It follows Mal and her men from the previous series, Chronicles of Blood, as they continue in the post-Bloody Queen Laddenworn, trying to fix the fairy tale by restoring the six ruling queens to their thrones and bringing Wonderland back. But there are new dark forces at work, ones that promise instant death oppose the bloody torture the Queens provided. And the fairy tale that’s infected Wonderland takes a more malevolent turn.

Do you have any quirks while working?

I’ve recently developed a strange habit while I work. For the last several months, I’ve been obsessively focused on obtaining my step goals (10-12,000 steps a day), so every hour, I walk 1,500 steps. While I do this, I’m playing through the next scene in my mind so that by the time I sit down, the words flow like water. Alternatively, if I’m stuck for a scene, I start pacing around my office and let the characters do as they will in my mind until I’m inspired enough that I can sit down again and write.

Fun fact: My dog has since taken to pacing when she’s bored. She’s constantly pacing the downstairs while I pace the upstairs. My husband rolls his eyes at us.

What are your hopes for the future?

I hope to be able to continue to write and gather a readership. I have been telling stories since I was a kid and to be able to share them with a wider audience has been incredibly rewarding. My goal is to be able to rearrange my career so that I can focus more fully on writing as my main source of income. It’s a lofty goal, one so many authors never achieve. But one day, with a lot of hard work, I hope to make it my reality so that I can keep writing.

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

My biggest piece of advice is to find yourself a PA who knows what they’re doing. I’m incredibly lucky to have found mine right when I started out. She’s knowledgeable in the industry, experienced, and connected to other authors and PAs. She’s made it possible for me to ‘meet’ other authors and network (yes, it’s actually important in all fields – your teachers were right about this, at least).

Other than that, one of the biggest hurdles is just to go for it. I held back for years. Taking that first leap of faith is going to be the hardest but it’s definitely worth it. Publishing your first book, successful or not, is remarkably rewarding. Getting that first 5 star review (and, those pesky 1 star reviews) is such an incredible feeling. There’s nothing more inspiring that will make you want to keep going, either to gather more praise from the 5 star reviewers or to prove those 1 star reviewers wrong.

Do you have anything to say to your followers?

I know that every author says this but, from the bottom of my heart, thank you! You are the reason I keep publishing. I love to hear your feedback, talk about characters with you, and receive your threats of dismemberment for what I put my characters through. As with all indie authors, reviews go a long way. Word of mouth goes even further. If you like what you read, share it with a friend. Don’t forget to give them the trigger warnings, though. 😛

Author Kaylin Peyerk #interview

Please give a warm welcome to author Kaylin Peyerk

Tell us a bit about yourself…

My name is Kaylin Peyerk, and I live in the beautiful state of Michigan. I have five full bookshelves, a bursting Kindle library, and a total love for the written word. My favorite genres to read are paranormal romance, fantasy, and the occasional contemporary novel. I am a lover of swimming, video games, and my golden retriever/corgi mix Gannon.

Have you always wanted to become an author?

I’ve loved reading and writing stories ever since I was seven years old and first picked up Harry Potter. That love grew until I wrote my first novel at fourteen years old. It was never my number one plan for a career, hence my bachelor’s degree in accounting. However, I took the leap of self-publishing on KDP in November 2019 in my free time and it has snowballed ever since. Now going into 2021 I am a full-time author and business owner. The moral of this story is to follow your dreams while having a backup plan for security! It gives you peace of mind while pursuing your true goals.

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

My inspiration for my book series is always the covers. It’s a little unorthodox but I purchase the covers before writing the stories. If I see a cover that inspires me I hop on it and begin writing right away. All of my stories started that way, plus, I’m a pantser so my inspiration comes and goes with my daily life as well. My current book series, Hell to Pay, was inspired by covers from Lumiencsence Covers on Facebook! She’s the leading designer in paranormal romance.
**A pantser is an author who writes without an outline for the story, coming up with it as they go**

What are you working on now?

I’m working on book two in the Hell to Pay series, Chaos in Hell. This is a demon reverse harem paranormal romance series. I’m also completing a 60k side project this week. It’s my first time writing MM romance and was inspired by an omegaverse Webtoon story called Our OmegaleaderNim. The way the author plays with social constructs, trauma, and hierarchy in a political sense was truly inspiring. I wanted to play around with my own omegaverse story, and I honestly think it’s one of the best stories I’ve ever written. This is also the first story I’ve written without a title or cover to inspire me first.

Do you have any quirks while working?

I need to listen to music. Writing in silence isn’t something I’m capable of! I’m not sure why. I guess other creative outlets help to motivate me.

What are your hopes for the future?

I hope to publish 1-2 books per month through the year 2021 and expand my income by taking the Ads for Authors course by Mark Dawson that I just purchased. Making this a viable option as my full-time job for the rest of my life is my top priority. Well, that, and meeting as many of my readers as possible and vibing with them through Facebook, Tiktok, and Twitch. Make sure to look for kaylinpeyerk_author on all platforms to join forces with thousands of other readers!

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

It is not for the faint of heart, that’s for sure. It’s extremely hard to get noticed by readers, and the only authors that do have a level of professionality that rivals big-time publishers. This means paying for quality editing services, having a professional cover created, and formatting your titles using a program such as KindleCreate for free or using a paid program like Vellum. Plus, you’re the creative and the business mind behind the operation. Be ready to learn all of the nitty-gritty parts of being an author, including advertising.
All I’m saying is that it’s more than just writing your story and uploading it to KDP. You could be the next Stephen King but no one will ever know about your great book if you don’t publish correctly using the steps above.

Do you have anything to say to your followers?

Yes! Thank you so much to my dedicated readers, ARC team, and BETA team! You guys are the real reason I do this. Hearing reader feedback and being able to bring them joy through my stories warms my heart and makes me so excited to continue writing. I really appreciate each and everyone one of you! You’re the best!
