Author Rowan Thalia #interview

Please give a warm welcome to author Rowan Thalia

First interview

Tell us a bit about yourself…

Hello again Helle! Gosh it’s been forever since my first interview! I’m Rowan Thailia – Ro. First, I’m an author, I published my first novel  on February 14, 2019.

I discovered very early on that I loved writing. Poetry was my first love and form of expression. I’ve written poems since I was sixteen and have quite the collection by now! Some of them you can find in my poetry novella, Deep in the Ro.

I’ve always been an avid reader and writer of short stories. My favorite author of all time is Anne Rice. In fact my pen name stems from one of her characters, Rowan, from The Witching Hour.

It wasn’t until 2018 that I decided to push through and write a full-length novel. I started Binding Rayne (which went through several title changes at first) but struggled with the direction. In the middle of the first draft, I happened upon the reverse-harem book community on facebook. The complicated romances rooted in my author heart and before long my book took on a new direction.  The Keepers of the Talisman trilogy was born!

Thank you for all of the support and love that you’ve shown toward my book babies so far, Helle, I hope to keep surprising you with bigger and better projects!

What has happened work wise since our last interview?

Since our first interview, I have written and published  many more reverse-harem romance novels, most of them paranormal in genre. Never to be one to sit idle, I opened a second pen name – R. Thalia . With this name, I began the journey of writing my first (non-romance) paranormal thriller, Song of Bones which I hope to publish in March.

Covid hit, and I backslid into depression for a while, but I came out fighting. I began a rewrite of my second series, The Soldiers of Blood and Ruin. At first, I thought to work through a quick edit, but realized I wanted to do more with the series – expand it – so I began the long road to reimagining the series. I just finished book one, Renegades Exiled (formerly Rox’s Renegades) and I can’t be happier! I’ve given Rox a deeper backstory and developed the plot and characters more than the first go around, even if you’ve read the first novel – I highly suggest you pick up the twe one. Renegades Exiled drops January 15!

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

Which one? Ha! I’m working on several projects right now. The biggest one is Soldiers of Blood and Ruin, so I’ll talk about that one. I’ve always been a fan of vampire novels – cue my Anne Rice obsession. Before writing this series, I read a dystopian novel and it got my mind spinning – what if I combined the two? This was right after finishing my first book, Binding Rayne in 2018. Anyway, I sat down and plotted/wrote the first ten chapters of this series in a weekend. The rest is history! Rox and her team were born. I mixed my love of vampires, dystopian, and zombies all together in one sexy package.

What are you working on now?

After finishing Renegades Exiled, I am working on four projects:
Renegades Mission: Book Two of Soldiers of Blood and Ruin
Juniper’s Trial: The final book of The Academy of Elite – Cowritten with Jarica James
Song of Bones – A thriller standalone under my non-romance pen, R. Thalia
Death Knell – a PNR RH Romance Co-written with Darcy Ray

Do you have any quirks while working?

Hmm. This is a good question. I think my biggest quirk is my need to see photos of everything I’ve imagined. I spend a lot of time searching pinterest and other sites finding the right images to go with what is in my head. Other than that – I’m needy. My poor alpha group can attest. Thankfully I’ve got people all around the world, so someone is always available in our chat- haha!

What are your hopes for the future?

I hope to get back on a regular schedule with my writing. In a perfect world, I’ll be publishing a book for each pen name at least bi-monthly. I’d also love to go back and get my Master’s in teaching – but that’s a long way away right now.

What have you learned about publishing since our first interview?

Gosh, I’ve learned so much. When you first interviewed me I had people helping me with the process – a small publishing house. Since then I’ve separated from the publisher and set out on my own. Both Deafening Silence and Last Chance Diner were self-published. The reason for rewriting my two first series is that I’ve gotten the rights back from the publisher and I will be putting them on my own account. The entire process is so intricate and it helps to know people. The most important advice I can give to new indie authors is – make friends with several editors and cover designers. Besides that, gather a small squad of beta/a;pha readers that will stick with you. Most of mine have been with me the entire three years and I couldn’t be more grateful. Shout out to my Shiver Squad!!

Do you have anything to say to your followers?

To my followers – Thank you so much for hanging in with me for the last three years. I came into the writing community rapid-releasing six books in a year. Since then, I’ve slowed down – but you haven’t turned away from me and I appreciate you! I love every comment, message, and recommendation I see out there. Stick with me, I promise I have more in store!!  Hugs, love and dicks – Ro  ❤

Author Annabel Allen #interview

Please give a warm welcome to author Annabel Allen

Tell us a bit about yourself…

Well, I’m a full-time author/freelance writer living in Ontario, Canada. I write under my birth name as well as Annabel Allan, though I keep the spicier subjects more for Annabel! Haha.

Have you always wanted to become an author?

I actually have not! I always enjoyed writing, but for most of my life, I wanted be a scientist, a Palaeontologist. Dinosaurs were always my jam! Once I hit high school though, I wanted to tell stories, turning more towards film. Then I discovered I really can’t tell a story successfully through visuals…so I fell back on writing. I just fell in love with it!

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

The Goode Pain series has an interesting past. I wrote the core of the book as a different novel, meant for a different type of series. It was rejected, so I shelved it. Then I was asked to write short stories for a friend, which he mentioned he wanted one about a kick ass Dominatrix. I actually started on the short story (which was titled “Goode Pain”) and by the time I finished what is now the first chapter, I thought man! I need to make this a novel. Then I remembered what an instructor in film school said, that I should flip the dynamic to make things more interesting. So, I took the old manuscript and rewrote it. I then retitled it “Edgeplay”.

What are you working on now?

Right now, I’m doing rewrites on my original vanilla series Smoke Chaser. The first two books are released, but I felt the third book was the weaker link, so I’m doing rewrites and edits on it.

Do you have any quirks while working?

It depends on the manuscript as well as what time it is during the day when I’m writing! Haha. If I’m writing at night, I tend to put on music while writing, which isn’t very quirky. But if I’m writing during the day, I HAVE to put on a movie. And that movie…is usually Jurassic Park! Weird to write BDSM when you have people running from escaped dinosaurs! Haha.

What are your hopes for the future?

I think like most authors, I hope for the bestseller status. I went a long while without my writing supporting me, but things are finally working out in that area. But I would love that little orange banner on Amazon saying “Bestseller”!

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

Do your research! It’s super important to either find someone who can mentor you OR do your own research on how publishing works. I love to answer questions about publishing and writing, so if anyone wants to reach out to me, they definitely can!

Do you have anything to say to your followers?

Just that I appreciate them! I appreciate anyone who takes the time to read my work. AND please leave a rating and review! Reviews feed authors! 🙂

Author Ashley Amy #interview

Please give a warm welcome to author Ashley Amy

Tell us a bit about yourself?

I am a small town Idahoan who grew up on a potato farm. I spent almost a decade being a military wife with my now ex-husband. I just had my fourth son with my current partner that my new road of life led me to. I’ve been an author since April 2019 and never looked back.

Book 1 is free.

Have you always wanted to become an author?

I was an odd soul growing up. The girl who was friends with everyone but scribbled nonsense in her journal once in private. Stories began to build clear back then in my youth, so now I see I had always wanted it. I’m just embracing it now.

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

I have an obsession with Greek mythology—which most of my PNR books tie into in some way.

What are you working on now?

Currently, I’m working on two romcoms for December 2021.

Do you have any quirks while writing?

When I get hit with a block, I look around the room. The first thing I spot, I write into a sex scene. After I’ve written such an unorthodox piece, my mind functions better.

What are your hopes for the future?

One day, I hope to make a bestseller list with an individual piece.

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

Editing is important. Don’t skip that step in your haste, and your eyes alone are not enough.

Do you have anything to say to your readers?

I’m just grateful for the ones who have stayed with me. When covid happened, I stepped back for a bit and took off most of 2020. Coming back into it, they waited. My tribe will always be them for their support. It’s what keeps me going now.

Author Regina Puckett #interview

Please give a warm welcome to author and poet Regina Puckett

Tell us a bit about yourself…

I’ve never thought my life was interesting enough to talk about. I remember taking a Speech class in college and listening in awe as some of my fellow students stood up and discussed their lives. The minute I had to stand up to talk about mine, I couldn’t think of a single thing anyone would ever want to know about me.
I married right out of high school. The most exciting thing in my life at that time were my two beautiful daughters. They gave my life meaning, but it never occurred to me that anyone else would find my day-to-day life interesting enough to sit through a five minute speech. Here I am many, many years later, and I still don’t think anyone would want to listen to a five-minute speech about my life.

Have you always wanted to become an author?

I knew I wanted to become a writer in the seventh grade. That was the same time I became interested in reading. I wanted to write something other people would fall in love with just like I had fallen in love with so many authors’ stories.

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

I’m currently writing a Christmas romance. Christmas has always been my favorite day of year, so I wanted to center a love story around two people meeting and falling in love during that season.

Do you have any quirks while working?

My entire life is a quirk. Everything I do is by the seat of my pants, so I’m always just as surprised as the next guy that I ever finished an entire novel.

What are your hopes for the future?

I want to win the lottery but if not, I have several books in the beginning stages I would to finish writing.

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

I’ve learned the hard way how easy it is to be taken advantage of in the publishing business. There are plenty of people who are prepared rip you off. My best advice is to you is to research, research, research.

Do you have anything to say to your followers?

I’m always so pleased to hear someone has read one of my books. I know everyone’s time is so precious, so I’m honored when anyone spends their valuable time reading my books. Thank you so much.

Author Lexi C Foss #interview

Please give a warm welcome to author Lexi C Foss

Tell us a bit about yourself…

Hi! My name is Lexi. I’m a quirky author who loves exploring the twists and turns of dark paranormal worlds, especially those haunted by vampires and shifters.

Have you always wanted to become an author?

I’ve always been a dreamer. I didn’t fully understand what that meant career-wise until after college when I started writing one day. It started as a way to pass the time and quickly grew into an obsession as the voices started unloading inside my mind. I sometimes can’t keep up with how fast they tell me a story, it’s like watching a movie and transcribing it all for others to review.

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

My inspiration typically comes from traveling. I go to random places and the voices just start talking, then I become the conduit for their tales. It’s a unique experience, one I value and love, even if it makes me seem a little crazy at times 😉

What are you working on now?

I’m currently writing Wicked Bonds, which is book seven of my Immortal Curse series. It’s an intense ride—one I’m enjoying because Balthazar (a favorite voice) is in the driver’s seat.

Do you have any quirks while working?

I need mood music and an otherwise quiet space to work. I also find I write best when I first wake up, or when I’m tired and ready to sleep. I think it’s that “daydream” sensation that I crave while drafting a story; it helps me channel the voices better and fall into the daze of stream-writing.

What are your hopes for the future?

I would love to explore more genres within romance, like new adult and dark suspense romance. Those are two guilty pleasure reading areas for me, but my brain always gravitates toward the paranormal world building. I’m working on training my mind to stay in the “real world” for a bit 😉

First book is free.

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

Keep. Writing. Authors are always learning, and we learn by writing and reading. Sometimes we get stuck on plots or specific scenes, so my biggest advice is just to push through and keep going. The story will come to you, even if you have to switch books for a little while. And don’t give up! This industry is constantly evolving and there is room in it for all of us. Lastly, have fun. Don’t lose that spark and love for what we do ♡

Do you have anything to say to your followers?

Thank you for reading my books! This whole career is a dream come true for me. I never expected my words to reach so many people. My goal when I started was to have one person I didn’t know read my book. And now I have readers all over the world. I love and adore you all. Thank you for helping me follow my dreams ❤

Author Eileen Troemel #interview

Please give a warm welcome to author Eileen Troemel

Tell us a bit about yourself…

Eileen Troemel – I’m an author… I’d rather talk about my characters than myself.  I write in a variety of genres.  I like the different challenges of different formats.  I’ve got scifi romance, fantasy romance, contemporary romance, paranormal romance… I like romance.  Give me the magic of falling in love and I’m happy.  I also produce crochet patterns, a self help book and poetry. I grew up on a farm which makes me independent and determined.  I’ve been married to my wonderful husband for forty years.  We have three wonderful adult daughters.

I write under two more names as well.

RJ Stone – writes children’s books.  When I started writing, I wanted to start with children’s books.  So many ideas for them but my stumbling block – I’m a horrible artist.  But I returned to this and have two items out and will have more soon.

Ava M Taylor – write erotica.  I’ve written in many of the sub-genres from contemporary to scifi and fantasy.  I like the sexy stories and find it challenging to write.  In fact, I started writing erotica because I needed a break from a current work in progress.  My head needed to think on a plot point in one of my other stories and so I wrote a rather explicit sex scene.  From there it grew into a story.

Have you always wanted to become an author?

In third grade our teacher assigned us to write a short story.  I wrote something silly but it was the first time I realized you could make up stories.  From there, I knew I wanted writing to be part of what I did.  I’ve done a lot of business writing in my life but I took up writing again in my late thirties and found myself again.

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

Current – well okay so I write in multiple books at a time so it’s hard for me to limit this to one.

Celtan Dilemma – out next year – this all started with a conversation about some current event (no idea which one) and the person was stuck between a rock and a hard place.  My female main character was given an order (in the military) and if she carried it out, she would become a war criminal.  If she didn’t carry it out, she was a traitor.  So she had to choose.  This is a science fiction space war story.

The Moon Crossing – due out in November – is a co-write with Jan Selbourne.  She’s a lovely author from Australia.  I read her book Perilous Love.  She kept me on the edge of my seat.  We talked and I thoroughly enjoy talking to her. She writes historical fiction and she said she had no idea how to write in scifi.  So we landed on an alternate history of the moon landing.  We talked through a good portion of the plot – which is pretty amazing because we are both people who write off the cuff.  Once we got started it took off and the ideas and collaboration was wonder.  The premise is during the moon landing the astronauts found something that advanced our society technologically.  But now in 2030, scientists were disappearing.  Our two main characters are looking for their missing family members and end up in a pile of intrigue and mystery as they track down their family.

On the Line – due out in January – is a contemporary romance in the K Bromberg world of Everyday Heroes.  Allison is a 911 operator and Chandler is a computer programmer.  His parents called 911 and were so grateful for the help, they wanted to meet the operator who helped them.  Chandler works with the cybercrimes division so he got an intro to Allison.  From the moment he met her, he wanted to spend more time with her.  Allison is recovering from a bad marriage.  She wants to do her job and have a quiet life.  She’s older than him and has two adult daughters.  She was injured in a car accident, leaving her with some mobility issues.  He doesn’t care about that.

Ava M Taylor just published Captain’s Companion.  This is book two in the Sexy Sinivite series.  Prospecting is the first book.  Cade is tired of sex bots.  He’s off prospecting in space and he wants a real woman to go with him to all the remote locations while he works.  Sheridan needs money to help her family so she hires out essentially as a sex toy.  Cade is part Sinivite and well they have a way with their women.  In Captain’s Companion, Ulrik is a captain of a ship and has met his mate – sort of.  He’s required to have a companion.  He doesn’t really want one but it’s required.  So when he looks through those available, he find Gwynn.  He knows.  When he finally meets her, he knows as well. He’s mostly Sinivite so his pheromones go into hyperdrive with his mate.  These are two stand alone books but share a theme and world.

RJ Stone wrote a short story for the anthology To the Moon and Back.  Princess on the Run is a short story geared toward 8 to 10 year olds.  She’s run away to visit her dragon friend Nuria.  But Nuria reminds her of what happens when a princess visits a dragon… trouble.

What are you working on now?

I’m working on a scifi romance which is a little darker than I normally go.  The working title is Escape the Gray.  These men were dumped on a planet as prisoners of war and struggle to survive.  Then a ship of their enemy crashes and they discover a woman.  It’s an RH scifi romance.

I’ve also got about four other projects I’m working on.  I move back and forth among the projects until one of them takes off.  Then I just write.

Under Ava M Taylor I’m working on a sea monster story.  I bought a cover that inspired me and I’ve been building the story.  The title will be Sacrificed to the Sea Monster.  There’s a bit of adventure, humor, and a lot of sexy time.

Under RJ Stone, I’m working on Dragon of Frendur 2 – lots of ideas for this one but nothing solid for a plot.

Do you have any quirks while working?

I don’t know about quirks.  I am usually in my recliner with only one light on and classical music playing.  If the words are flowing, I can write as much as 10 to 15,000 words. Most often I write anywhere from 500 to 5000 words.  Even though I work in Word on my computer, I use my phone to research topics that come up while I’m writing.

What are your hopes for the future?

I hope my stories will bring readers enjoyment and escape from their world.  If they find a lesson in there – great.  I hope I continue to produce stories which people find engaging, sexy, and fun.

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

Listen to those who are better at writing than you are but always make your own choices and decisions about your writing.  Write often.  The more you write, the better you’ll get.  But don’t just drop words on a page.  When you edit, pay attention.  What words are you overusing?  What phrases are you repeating? Analyze your work so you become a better author. Know you’re not done once it’s published. From there you have to promote and market your work.

Do you have anything to say to your followers?

Thank you.  Thank you for picking up my books and reading them. Thank you for connecting with me.  You’re key to my story telling process.
