Author Rozie Marshall #interview

Please give a warm welcome to

Tell us a bit about yourself

My name is Rozie Marshall. I have a BA in European history. I write Paranormal Reverse Harem at the moment. I’m also working on a post apocalyptic pirate RH, and a Zombie RH… plus I have several series planned for the future. I am polyamorous so the reverse harem wasn’t hard for me to imagine. I also write some erotica and BDSM but they have yet to be released.

°

°

Have you always wanted to become an author?

I’ve been writing for over 15 years in the hopes of being published. I would lose myself in historical details and the plot would suffer. I switched genres to Paranormal and the ideas and plot’s just flew out. I have wanted to be an author for a very long time, so now that I’m published it’s a dream come true.

°

°

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

Most of the characters are based off people I know and love in real life. Some taken straight from my relationships with alternat names. The story itself was based on recurring dreams I kept having, that I thought would make a great storyline. I also took inspiration from an image I found online and that dictated the number of men in my main character’s life.

°

°

What are you working on now?

I am working on the fourth book of my current series. A standalone post apocalyptic pirate RH. The first book in a Zombie RH series. Also two cowrites with other authors. Plus when I have the time I will outline and do character bios for future series I have planned.

°

°

Do you have any quirks while writing?

My characters talk to me and tell me what to write. I tend to listen to opera while writing. I’m OCD so I tent to organize the hell out of everything on my desktop in neat little rows or columns. I tend to work best at night when my children are asleep…they tend to distract me when I try to write in the day.

°

°

What are your hopes for the future?

I would love to be able to make writing my full time job. I have several other series planned that I would like to get out in the future. I hope to get at least a small fan base that would make going to book signings a thing I could do. Really thought my biggest hope is that people enjoy my books.

°

°

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

Never give up, even if it takes years. Never read a 1 star review it will only cause you to doubt yourself. Always believe that you are where you should be. Never compromise your story for someone else’s opinion. Remember always that it’s your voice that should be heard, and people want to hear your voice.

°

°

Do you have anything to say to your readers?

Thank you so much for all your love and support. I hope to continue growing as an author and transporting you to the world’s within my books. I hope to be around for a while…for the love of sex and sin, and from the bottom of my heart, Thank you.

Author Rebecca Morman #interview

Tell us a bit about yourself

I am 29 from North East Oklahoma. I live here with my husband and our 4 boys, 2 dogs and 2 cats. I work part time at the local Dollar Tree ( I can’t wait to quit lol) My husband says that I am the strangest person that he has ever met. I usually take it as a compliment. I have 3 brother and 2 sisters. And i am not sure what else to tell you. I am just me and that is all that I can be.

°

°

Have you always wanted to become an author?

Yes and No. I knew that I wanted to do something, but wasn’t sure what. I have always loved to read. It was always my escape from a not too good childhood. My stepdad was a meth addict and it usually got bad around our house, or whoever’s house we were staying at, when he was out. I wanted my life and the m kids lives to be better.

°

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

Haa this one is the kicker. My daughter passed away in 2013 and I started using drugs after. I wanted to kill the pain, kill the nightmares, kill myself if I am being completely honest. I started writing poetry first and that turned into writing stories, and from there I started writing E.R.A . i didn’t know what the hell I was doing. I still don’t lol.

°

°

What are you working on now?

Right now I am working on R.a.L (Revenge and Love) which is book 2 in the HayleAnna Rising Series. We are releasing it on September 25th of this year, which is my 9 year wedding anniversary. I am also working on Irish Eyes with my little sister which we haven’t set a release date for.

°

Do you have any quirks while writing?

5) I have to be by an open window. I also have to have some sort of classic movie or cartoon playing on the t.v . I have tried writing to newer t.v shows and my flow just isn’t the same.

°

What are your hopes for the future?

6) When I first published E.R.A , I wanted one person to love it as much as I do. A lady told me last night that it was her favorite book that she had ever read. That was my short term goal. My long term is to be able to quit my part time job and stay at home and write. I want to be able to do author events and book signings in the near future.

°

°

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

7) Yes. Yes I do. Listen to your heart. If write a story that you love, someone else is going to love it too. Be afraid, but do it. Fear can only hold you back if you let it. Oh and always have someone who does know what they are doing. Don’t just go in blind.

°

Do you have anything to say to your readers?

8 ) I just want to say Thank you guys so much for all of the support that you have shown us. I want y’all to know how much you inspire me to continue to write. The reviews that you have all left and the messages that I have received, are so heart warming to me. Please just continue to read the stories that we throw out for you guys and PLEASE don’t ever be afraid to tell me if they suck! I love you guys! Thank you!

Author Robyn Peterman #interview

Please give a warm welcome to author Robyn Peterman

NYT and USA Today best selling author, Robyn Peterman writes because the people inside her head won’t leave her alone until she gives them life on paper. She writes snarky, sexy, funny paranormal and snarky, sexy, funny contemporaries.

Her addictions include laughing really hard with friends, shoes (the expensive kind), Target, Coke Zero Cherry with extra ice in a styrofoam cup, bejeweled reading glasses, her kids, her super-hot hubby and collecting stray animals.

A former professional actress, with Broadway, film and T.V. credits, she now lives in the south with her family and too many animals to count. Writing gives her peace and makes her whole, plus having a job where she can work in her underpants works really well for her.

°

°

Have you always wanted to become an author?

°

Book 1 – Tallulah’s Temptation

Running a tourist trap for humans in the Bermuda Triangle had sounded like a fine plan—until it wasn’t. With the Sea Hags gunning for our island, I did what any desperate Mermaid would do. I called for backup.

Unfortunately, they sent Pirate Doug, the scoundrel that pillaged our treasure along with my heart.

What in the Chicken of the Sea was I thinking?

°

°

Book 2 – Ariel’s Antics

What in a clam shell does a Mermaid have to do to find true love?

Saving my island home is a must. However, the mission is to seek out the very Selkie who stole my heart, the same asshat whose Johnson I’d tried to truncate.

Ask any tuna you happen to see. Who’s the craziest Mermaid? That would be me.

°

°

Book 3 – Misty’s Mayhem

What’s love got to do with it? If you’re Cupid, everything. If you’re me, not a thing in the sea.

I don’t believe in love. Poseidon is smoking some bad seaweed if he expects me to take the one job I’m obviously not qualified for… The God of Love.

Stay tuned because I’m about to give love a bad name.

°

°

Book 4 – Madison’s Mess

What could possibly go wrong when a Mermaid and a Werewolf are sent on a dangerous mission by the drunken, diaper-wearing God of the Sea?

Better question. What could possibly go right?

Author Reese Copeland #interview

Please give a warm welcome to author Reese Copeland

Tell us a bit about yourself

Hey yall! I’m Reese! I’m 26 recently married and I live in Arkansas with my husband, my cranky cat and a suspiciously creaky house. I love gardening, cooking and collecting crystals. My favorite color is sage green and I’m allergic to avocados and I’m really sad about it lol. #RIPGuacamole.

°

°
Have you always wanted to become an author?

I have! I used to be really shy and ghostwrite for others for fear of being judged for my overactive imagination. I only recently got the confidence to step out of the shadows and I’m so excited!

°

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

So Winds of Change came about after way too many glasses of wine and a Lord of the Rings marathon. An I began thinking why should all the main characters be boys?! Look at Xena she’s a total badass and she never NEEDED a male lead for jack squat! The more I thought about it the madder I got lol and then I watched Harry Potter and snapped! Hermione is a total hero I would read a series based around her. So Bela and her story were created.

°

°

What are you working on now?

Oh man, soooo many things! Haha, I can never stick to just one. I’m working on an awesome cowrite for the summer with some of my writer besties. I’ve just launched a business to help new and established authors with their business/admin side of thing. It’s called Writers Guide to Freedom and I’m super excited about it! The next Hearts of Solara is on my radar and the outline is basically writing itself. I’ve also explored some spinoffs for the series! So please if you have ideas or suggestions let me know, I am always looking for inspiration.

°

°

Do you have any quirks while writing?

Ha! I feel like I’m a walking quirk. I do my best writing when House Hunters International is playing in the background, and I’ve got a great playlist blaring. I know that sounds odd and my husband is always like how can you possibly concentrate. But for some reason, it works! Like, I can’t hear myself think really so the words just flow out of me.

°

°

What are your hopes for the future?

I just want to be one person’s favorite author, that’s enough for me. If I can help the indie community to become more respected that’d be awesome too! I’m always looking forward to the future, that the best part about the future, there is always something more to look forward too!

°

°

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

Ooh ok, two things:

1. Write and create for you. I don’t care if the story has been done a bazillion times. If you have a story to tell..tell it! No one is going to tell it quite like you, so just write for you! Don’t worry about what the audience may say or your peers. You do you boo!

°

2. Take your time researching and vetting the members of your team, whether they be you PA. publisher, editor, ANYONE who has anything to do with your brand needs to be vetted by more than just word of mouth. If you don’t feel comfortable looking into business and people in depth, check out Writers Guide to Freedom. We’ll handle the real world while you create the story.

°

°

Do you have anything to say to your readers?

I am so grateful for each and every one of you! I hope that you’ve found a little of Vika’s bravery, Bela’s heart and Helena’s strength inside of you. Thank you for taking this ride with me, I cannot wait to see where we go next.

Author R.A. Steffan #interview

Please give a warm welcome to author R.A. Steffan

Tell us a bit about yourself

°

I’m a forty-something ex-rancher living in flyover country in the US Midwest. For the last few years, I’ve been city bound—living in a midsized college town where I’m illegally keeping ducks in the backyard, so I don’t go completely insane from lack of critters.

Have you always wanted to become an author?

°

Not at all. I started writing fanfiction in 2005 for personal enjoyment, and branched out to ghostwriting and non-fiction content creation a few years later to supplement my income. I published my first series professionally in 2015. (It was a commercial disaster, and remains deeply buried in red ink to this day.)

With my ranch gone, and deeply disillusioned by a series of back-breaking, low-paying shift jobs, I told my husband in early 2016 that I would be writing as a full-time living within eighteen months. He scoffed at the assertion.

In his defense, it took me twenty months of working 100+ hours per week, not eighteen. But, ever since March of 2018, here I am, a full-time writer.

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

°

That’s a trick question—I currently have three active series going. (Side note to aspiring writers: never, ever do this. NOT EVER. Trust me on this one.)

Anyway, the inspiration for the Love and War sci-fi romance series is the current slow march toward extremism in the western world. It’s a cautionary tale about the manipulation of a populace into an “us” versus “them” mentality, and how easy it is for that kind of xenophobia to morph into acts of unspeakable brutality and evil… as we see every day in the news from around the world.

The inspiration for my second active series, The Eburosi Chronicles, is the beauty of inclusivity and understanding when it comes to love. Love has the power to heal, and I firmly believe that consuming media in which love is portrayed as beautiful and desirable in all its forms can help people bring some of that beauty and tolerance into their own lives.

The Eburosi Chronicles is the umbrella series for The Horse Mistress, The Lion Mistress, and The Dragon Mistress story arcs, which follow various members of an adoptive family in a fictional Bronze Age culture across a span of decades. The current arc in progress, The Dragon Mistress, deals with a misfit group of renegades coming together to save the last five dragons in existence from powerful forces that would see them wiped out forever.

Finally, the inspiration for The Last Vampire (co-written with Jaelynn Woolf) was my love for big, sprawling, intricate book series that span the divide between Urban Fantasy and Paranormal Romance. (We market ours as “urban fantasy romance.”)

°

What are you working on now?

°

Right now I’m diving into Anthelion: Love and War, Book 4, which is the second-to-last installment of the sci-fi romance series. I expect this book will garner mixed reviews, to put it mildly, since the protagonists are gay and the couples in the other books were all heterosexual.

Mind you, it’s not like I didn’t make it pretty obvious from the beginning that this was coming, but I’ll still be interested to see the response. There seems to be only a vanishingly small amount of M/M sci-fi romance available, and what’s there mostly follows the male pregnancy trope (which mine doesn’t). I’m not at all sure why that is.

°

Do you have any quirks while writing?

°

Eh, probably. I’m afraid I couldn’t say what they are, though, beyond the fact that I need quiet to write. Since we live in a tiny house, and my writing time usually overlaps time when my husband is home from work—playing video games or watching TV—I seem to spend an awful lot of hours with earbuds blasting white noise in my ears.

I have absolutely no clue how writers who go to coffee shops or cafes to write can manage to get anything done.

What are your hopes for the future?

°

I dream of a day when being a full-time writer/publisher isn’t a constant source of panic, stress, and worry. Will the next book flop? (Answer: if it’s not about vampires, then yes, it will flop. I can only sell vampires. The other two series are merely self-indulgence on my part—a very expensive hobby.)

Will Amazon or Facebook or some other platform I rely on suddenly change their algorithms, causing my sales to plummet to nothing overnight? (Answer: it’s happened to writers before, so… maybe.)

Do people like my work? Am I good enough? Is the last book-related decision I made hopelessly wrong? Will it destroy my business? And so on and so forth.

Fun with anxiety and clinical depression, basically. Both very common conditions among artistic types, or so I hear.

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

°

If you’re writing genre fiction, indie publishing is the way to go. Traditional publishing may still be a viable option for literary fiction and poetry.

Before you do anything else, ask yourself what your goals are. If the goal is artistic expression, write what you want and enjoy yourself to the fullest, but be aware that publishing probably won’t be a gateway to untold riches. If the goal is to make a comfortable living, put aside your ego and write what readers want to read. Produce it quickly and with good quality, market it professionally, and treat the venture like the business it is.

If what you want to write and what readers want to read happen to overlap, then understand how lucky you are and embrace that opportunity with your entire being.

°

Do you have anything to say to your readers?

°

Thank you—especially those of you who read the books I write because I’m passionate about them, rather than because they pay the bills. I wouldn’t be here without you.

Please give a warm welcome to author Rebecca Royce

Tell us a bit about yourself
My name is Rebecca Royce. I’ve been a published author for ten years and I write across all genres of romance. I am also a wife, mother, animal lover, theater addict, and hater of airplanes but lover of travel. Thanks for having me today.

Have you always wanted to become an author?

I wrote my first book in 4th grade. I really couldn’t imagine doing anything else. I tried but the truth is when writing is in your soul its what you do.

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

I’m not sure where Kiss Her Goodbye came from exactly. I was sort of thinking one day about conspiracy theories, the idea of secret organizations running thing, Illuminati. Maybe my kids were watching YouTube videos and the idea was sort of born.

What are you working on now?

I’m writing the last book in the Kiss Her Goodbye series, Deadly Truths.

Do you have any quirks while writing?

I don’t think so.

What are your hopes for the future?

I’d like to keep writing and have more readers discover my work. I’d like to continue to be able to do this and to do it even better.

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

You need to treat this like a job. Write every day. Devote time and energy to it.

Do you have anything to say to your readers?

Thank you so much, truly!

Author Renee Rose #interview

Please give a warm welcome to USA Today Bestselling Author Renee Rose

Tell us a bit about yourself?

I’m Renee Rose, a USA today bestselling author who writes steamy kinky romance with alpha males and hot domination. I’m probably best known for my bestselling mafia romance series Vegas Underground, the Bad Boy Alphas series (sexy alpha shifters!) and Zandian Masters /Zandian Brides series (alien slave domination).

Have you always wanted to become an author?

Always! I was an avid reader by kindergarten and always always wanted to write my own books, it just took me a while to get here. 🙂

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

I adore dangerous men– bad boys, super spies, etc. My new mafia series Vegas Underground features tough, dominant, scary men and the feisty heroines who bring them to their knees.

What are you working on now?

I’m working on a bad boy alpha book, Alpha’s Prey. It features a bear shifter mountain man and the curvy scientist he has to rescue from a storm.

Do you have any quirks while writing?

I don’t have an orderly brain, so this doesn’t make sense, or maybe it’s why I have to write this way, but I really prefer to write a book linearly. Otherwise I feel like I lose the story and emotional threads.

What are your hopes for the future?

I would love to keep growing my readership and launch a YA paranormal series.

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

Write what you love. Love what you write. That’s all it takes, really, but it’s easy to get into doubt and judgment, which kills your creation.

Do you have anything to say to your readers?

I f-ing love my readers. I am so grateful every day that I have an audience for my books. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Author Regine Abel #interview

Please give a warm welcome to author Regine Abel

Tell us a bit about yourself?

I’m a sci-fi and paranormal romance author. My day job is Design Director in video games. Yep! I torture game designers all day long lol. I’m a Canadian turned globe-trotter as my career has taken me pretty much all over the world. I currently live in Europe but planning on returning home in the not too distant future to start writing full-time.

Have you always wanted to become an author?

The desire to write professionally frequently popped up in my mind over the years. I was always quite the storyteller growing up. I actually wrote my first book at the age of 13 and sent it to a publisher. Surprisingly, one of the editors took the time to read and comment the whole thing before sending back the manuscript with a gentle rejection letter. The amount of work required to fix it overwhelmed teenage me, half of which I didn’t fully understand, such as character development lol. So, while I gave up the idea to become a writer then, the urge to write never left me until I finally decided to take the plunge again two years ago.

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

The Xian Warriors series was first inspired by a stock photo image of men in fetal position that looked like they were being incubated in giant glass spheres. It made me think of The Matrix, the pod inside which Neo awakened when he first exited the Matrix. That made me want to write a story involving the transfer of consciousness. Sprinkle in some insectoid aliens partly inspired by the movie Starship Troopers, and the Xian Warriors were born.

Here’s the book trailer of the first book in the series: Legion (Xian Warriors 1)

What are you working on now?

I’m currently working on Raven (Xian Warriors 2). In the first novel, we learn about the Xian Warriors, genetically engineered soldiers that are essentially made immortal by their Soulcatchers. What’s a Soulcatcher? A psychic human female able to capture the soul of a fallen warrior and transfer it back into a new copy of his body grown in an incubator. Together, they fight against the Kryptid invasion, insectoid creatures hell-bent on dominating the galaxy. If you love sci-fi, action, and a steamy romance, this series is for you!

Do you have any quirks while writing?

I’m only comfortable writing in one of my three writing pajamas while listening to epic movie music.

What are your hopes for the future?

To become a full-time writer within the year. That possibility is very likely. And after that, to keep growing my fan-base and hopefully for them to continue to enjoy my books.

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

Do you. Write what makes you happy, not what others tell you to write. Take reviews with a grain of salt. You will never please everyone and some readers will completely miss the point. It’s okay. Just keep going. Build your social platforms. It’s painful when you are an introvert like me, but it will make things easier down the road. Get yourself a writers tribe and support each other. Going at it alone is brutal. Making it doesn’t happen overnight. It will take a lot of hard work and perseverance, but if you write with love, then readers will love your work right back.

Do you have anything to say to your readers?

Thank you for supporting indie authors. Thanks to all of you who picked up my first book and helped spread the word two years ago when I was completely clueless. And a particular thank you to those who take a second to post reviews. It only takes a moment but makes a huge difference for authors.

Let’s finish this post with a surprise cover reveal

Author Rinna Ford #interview

Please give a warm welcome to author Rinna Ford

Tell us a bit about yourself.

Hi! I live just outside of St. Louis, MO with my husband and two daughters. I currently stay at home with my youngest, and I write in my spare time. I’m a breast cancer survivor, and I love kickboxing!

Have you always wanted to become an author?

No, I didn’t always want to be an author. I was an elementary school teacher before I had kids, and although I miss it, writing is my passion now. For a time, I thought I wanted to write children’s picture books, but when I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2016, I used books as an escape from my reality. I decided that I wanted to do that, so I gave it a try, and I’m glad I did.

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

To be completely honest, I can’t remember where I got the idea for this story that I’m working on now. I do remember that I originally planned for it to be M/F, buy my PA, Nikki talked me into making it a RH series. Once I get an idea, I spend a lot of time on Pinterest, looking for visual inspiration for my characters, setting, etc, and they help shape my story lines.

What are you working on now?

I’m finishing up the first book of a new series called Curse Marked, as well as starting the last book in my Aurelia Chronicles series. Curse Marked from The Marked series is a medium-burn RH PNR series, and the Aurelia Chronicles is more of a fantasy M/F series.

Do you have any quirks while writing?

LOL I have quite a few quirks while writing! I make and listen to playlists on Spotify while I write, and they help me write the emotion l look for during different scenes. I can only write sex scenes when my kids aren’t home or if they’re asleep. I don’t really like to write them when my husband is home either, actually. I “reward” myself with candy for reaching daily word goals. Not the healthiest motivation, but it works for me!

What are your hopes for the future?

I hope to become a full-time writer. I want to make a living at this by the time both of my kids are in school. I know that’s the goal of most indie writers, and it’s definitely mine. I love writing and I can’t see myself doing anything else.

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

My first piece of advice is to study the craft. Make sure you know what you want to write and have a plan for writing it. I would also tell new authors to make connections within the writing community- other authors, beta readers, and arc readers. They are key to helping you break into this industry, and will help you more than you know. I’d finally say to make sure that you find a good editor and a good cover artist. This is probably the most important thing for any author, because a great book and a beautiful cover sells itself.

Do you have anything to say to your fans?

I absolutely love my fans. They’re the ones that keep me going, keep me motivated to write. Thank you for your support!

Author Rhiannon Lee #interview

Please give a warm welcome to author Rhiannon Lee

Tell us a bit about yourself

I live in West Virginia with my three young adult kiddos, our cat Thales, and my daughter’s rat babies. I’m currently going to college at the same time as two of my kids, which is both crazy and awesome. I’m a huge fantasy and sci-fi addict, and I love music and nature so much. I’m also a weird introvert, with a huge imagination.

Have you always wanted to become an author?

Yes! However, I thought I was terrible at it. It wasn’t until I started college and had a couple professors stop me to tell me I should take it seriously that the gears began turning in my head. At first, I thought I’d just write poetry, because words dance in my head like puzzle pieces, but then I realized that while fifty thousand word plus seems daunting, it’s totally doable. It was a process to get here, but now I can’t imagine not writing.

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

There is such a duality in human nature, and often what people perceive and good or bad is based on their own perceptions. My Queen Lucy series is a play on that, and all the “what ifs”.

What are you working on now?

I’m working on book three, Hijinks and Demons, in the Queen Lucy series. I’m also almost finished with a new book that will be standalone but belong to a future set of standalones based on a singular dystopian/fantasy universe. There are a couple anthologies I’m writing novellas for, and also an awesome co-writing project that has a Fall release date.

Do you have any quirks while writing?

I have to have a cup of coffee. I don’t have to drink it, I just need it beside me like a lucky charm! Ha Ha!

What are your hopes for the future?

I hope to move more of my time into writing, and of course be able to support myself through my books and work.

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

Come out of the gate looking professional. Set up your Facebook groups, website, etc. Make it look like you know what you’re doing, even if you don’t. I feel that enables people who love your writing to connect with you right from the start, and that’s important to both you and them.

Do you have anything to say to your readers?

Oh my gosh, yes. Every time I think about a person actually taking the time to read my stories it makes my heart pitter patter with happiness. Out of all the books out there, they chose mine, and I’m beyond honored and humbled. I literally love every single one of you.
