Author Penn Cassidy #interview

Please give a warm welcome to author Penn Cassidy

Have you always wanted to become an author?

Not always. I used to want to be an archaeologist, but when I was in highschool, I started editing for the school newspaper, and then dabbled in fanfiction. Eventually I figured out that writing is what I loved to do.

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

My inspiration for Noc City was a mixture of things. I love everything about vampires and have consumed every type of vampire media out there, but I’m also a fan of dystopian future settings. I sort of mixed the two and created a new reality to do what I wanted with it. l also love the dark, gritty subject matter. My MC has faced abuse, fear and uncertainty in her life that I am intimately familiar with, and it felt cathartic to get it down on paper, so to speak.

What are you working on now?

I am working on book #3 of the Noc City series, Hybrid Theory, releasing in June.

Do you have any quirks while working?

I always have to sit with my feet up on something, and I have to have a candle burning.

What are your hopes for the future?

I really want a best seller, or to sell steadily enough to convert my husband into a stay-at-home husband 🙂 But if that fails, I really want to eventually write a series that’s over 5 books long in the same universe. A big epic fantasy.

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

Don’t let the haters get you down, and for the love of all that is holy don’t get sucked into drama. It’s not worth it. You won’t be perfect at first, so don’t expect too much of yourself. Part of becoming a writer is learning from your past self. We are always looking for ways to perfect our craft and better ourselves. Mostly, have fun with it and write what truly makes you happy.

Do you have anything to say to your followers?

I want to say thank you all for being here with me on this journey. You will never know just how much you’ve helped me through some of the hardest years of my life. This community is a beautiful family, and even though we are all far apart, each and every one of you I consider to be my very best friends.

Have you always wanted to become an author?

Yes and no. As a teenanger, I thought about it, but life got in the way. I decided to try now.

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

It kinda just came to me. I started with the first scene and built from there

What are you working on now?

My fourth book, which is going to be a shifter academy.

Do you have any quirks while working?

I like to listen to hard rock music. It keeps the ADHD part of my brain occupied so I can hear the characters better.

What are your hopes for the future?

Right now, I hope the pandemic ends soon, and after that, I hope to become a well known autbor.

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

Do research before you publish on how to market. Thats the one thing I struggle with.

Do you have anything to say to your followers?

I love and appreciate all of you, because you are what makes this worth it. I hope you enjoy my stories.

Tell us a bit about yourself

Well, I’m a 23 year old author, from bonnie Scotland. I’ve always been an avid reader, and have seen myself reading up to 4 books a day. I love just about any book as long as its romance lol. I left school when I was 16, and didn’t really work afterwards due to mental health issues, but I live a very happy life with my fiance and my pupper.

Have you always wanted to become an author?

Actually no. When I was growing up I always wanted to be a vet, or a nurse or doctor. I love to help people and was a carer for my mum, so the idea of being able to use those skills in my life, and help make other people’s life easier was appealing to me. I actually became an author, because after reading so many books, certain stories would pop up in my head. I would search for specific things until one day last year I thought, if I enjoy reading so much maybe I will like writing too.

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

I’ve always loved demon stories, so to ease myself in to the beautiful world of writing. I decided to use small parts of my own life, and the kinds of books I like the most, and the searching trilogy was born.

What are you currently working on?

Searching For The Answers book 2 Of the searching trilogy. Which is a continuation of Lilith’s mess of a life, and how her and her guys are figuring out their relationship together. There will be plenty of twists and turns in the lead up to the final book.

Do you have any quirks when working?

I don’t know really. I suppose I always have to have a cup of coffee, and I write a lot better whilst listening to music, or an audiobook.

What are your hopes for the future?

The main thing I want to do,is bring a little joy and distraction to people. I can’t help people the way I’ve always dreamed, but if I can write about real life stuff in my books, with helpful ways to get through them that helps someone then I’m more than happy.

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

I’m not going to lie, I’m still trying to figure it all out myself lol. The biggest bit of advice I could give is, don’t be afraid to reach out to other authors for advice, I’ve seen how lovely they can all be. Ginna Moran helped me out so much with advice on how to get word of my work out there. Also I know it’s scary, but remember there will always be people that don’t like your work, and can be a little mean. Every positive review makes up for it all though, because there’s so many people who will like it too, and appreciate the work you have put in.

Do you have anything to say to your followers?

I could never thank my readers enough for the interest they have hown in my work! It’s truly indescribable, the feeling you get when you read through lovely reviews, and have people getting in touch about how much they enjoy your work. I love you all, and I hope I can give you all things to look forward to for years to come. ❤️

Tell us a bit about yourself

Hi, everyone! I’m Penelope Woods, a dark romance author.

Have you always wanted to become an author?

Yes, from the beginning, I’ve always dreamt of becoming a writer. I started with erotica, but I always had a hankering for darker sci-fi, so I decided to blend the two in my own unique way.

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

Oh my gosh! Well, for starters, I’m a big rom-com gal. I’m also a huge horror and sci-fi nerd. I LOVE aliens, strong men, and scenes that make your heart pound!

What are you working on now?

My newest novel His Hostage is up for pre-order on Amazon right now, actually. It’s a dark contemporary romance. After that, I have a few sci-fi novels coming out in February.

Do you have any quirks while writing?

I’m full of quirks, but when I’m writing, I’m fairly focused. Well, except for when I’m mindlessly browsing facebook LOL.

What are your hopes for the future?

I can only hope the world mends itself. I want everyone to find love and happiness in their lifetimes.

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

Write your first book! Write your second. Write your third. When you’re absolutely sure you can’t write another book, write a fourth. You are unstoppable, and you will conquer your dreams!

Do you have anything to say to your readers?

Thank you for becoming a new fan. It means the world to me. And, please, stay in touch! Send me an email every now and then.

Poppy Woods #interview

Please welcome debut author Poppy Woods *

Tell us a bit about yourself

Ahhh, I’m terrible at this. I’m Poppy… I’m short, southern, and swear like a well educated sailor? I’m a mom. I have two evil day jobs in addition to arguing with fictional characters (quite frequently *while* I’m at my evil day job, much to my boss’s dismay)

* Have you always wanted to become an author?

I have always wanted to write. I don’t know that I always wanted to publish anything. I used to write a ton of poetry… probably from the time I was like 7-20. I have those in a binder somewhere, they got me through hard times.
A Call To Pride is the first story I’ve actually finished. I’ve started writing it and a hundred other stories a million times and just never had the willpower to finish. I’d try to edit it while I was still writing and get discouraged and scrap everything.*

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

Liza’s story is a little bit of everything to me. She has parts of me in her and parts that are completely organic, a product of my weird and twisted imagination.
The series as a whole (Unsung Veil) will focus on other characters throughout the series. My inspiration for the series is honestly a combination of reading works like The Damon’s Mountains series by TS Joyce and the Wings of Artemis series by Rebecca Royce and wanting to create a book world like that. A book world where there is a single universe that all these characters share, and maybe some of them know each other, but everything comes back to a single plot thread. Eventually. I guess we will have to see if I pull that off.

*

What are you working on now?

Right now I’m writing Unsung Veil Book 2 – A Call To War. It’s the conclusion to Liza’s personal part of the story. She will still pop up as a side character in at least a few books, but her personal plot will be done.

*

Do you have any quirks while writing?

I don’t know… lol. I get frustrated and close my laptop a lot. I smoke cigarettes religiously during sprint breaks, or when I get to a point in the story where I need some space to think about my next move.

*

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

I haven’t done traditional publishing and probably never will. I like the indie world. I like being in control of my career and setting my own deadlines. If I had any advice it would be just to write the damn thing. Don’t try to stop to self-edit it. Just get that first draft out onto paper/screen so that you have somewhere to start. If you stop writing it to do anything else, you probably won’t finish it. At least, that’s been true for me a million times.

*

What are your hopes for the future?

I have several things in the works. Once I finish writing ACTW (Liza’s second book) I’ll be doing a totally new, secret project with another author, in a completely different universe. Once I finish that secret project, I’ll come back to the Unsung Veil and play with the characters there.
My overall goal is to eventually be a full-time author so that I can focus on my little terrorist at home instead of splitting my time four ways: Momming, Evil day job one, Evil day job two, Author.

*

Do you have anything to say to your fans?

Thank you! I realize there may not be that many of you yet, at least not compared to some of the big names in this business, but each and every one of you are important to me. You make it possible for me to chase this dream of mine and I couldn’t possibly be more grateful! Every book, every page read, matters more than you know.
