Author Torri Heat #interview

Please give a warm welcome to author Torri Heat

Tell us a bit about yourself…

I’m Torri. I’m a mom via adoption and foster care, a teeny bit of a hippie, a painter, a wrangler of cats, and a lover of all books STEAMY. Especially of the paranormal/fantasy variety.

Have you always wanted to become an author?

Always. I never really thought it was a possibility, always like one of those pipe dreams that you can never actually see coming true. But now it’s a reality, and it’s absolutely amazing.

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

With Blood Crown, Beth had sent me a photo of this absolutely badass queen and asked me what her backstory was. My response was simple. She was a queen in a world of kings, and had paid her way to her throne in blood. And bam! Blood Crown was born.

Normally it’s because I’ll have a piece of dialogue that gets stuck in my head, and it won’t fit with my current characters. So then I have to write an entirely new character and story line to make that one line work. It seems excessive, but it works.

What are you working on now?

I’m currently working on Blood Crown, with Elizabeth Brown, releasing on June 15th. It’s a fantasy reverse harem, and we are SO excited about it. In addition, I’m releasing the third book in my Darkling novella series (a werewolf romance series featuring wolves, and monster hunters, and all sorts of cool stuff) in June as well!

Do you have any quirks while working?

I listen to really, really, REALLY loud music. If I can hear myself think, it’s not loud enough.

What are your hopes for the future?

USAT I’m coming for you…

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

Don’t give up. And don’t read the horror stories. Trust your gut, and trust your creative instinct.

Do you have anything to say to your followers?

Thank you. It’ll never be enough, but all I have is stories and my gratitude.
