Author Allie Rose #interview

Please give a warm welcome to author Allie Rose

Tell us a bit about yourself

Hi everyone! My name is Allie Rose! I am a newbie author working on her first book. I also do PA work and am a full-time diesel mechanic, and I pet sit for a ton of amazing critters! I fell in love with reading in 5th grade when my mom gifted me a copy of Erin Hunter’s Into the Wild, book 1 in the Warrior’s series. Even now it is one of my all-time favorite books. Flash forward to about 2 years ago when I fell in love with the indie author community. I found this whole world devoted to them on FB and decided to get more involved. I found my first PA job and the rest is history. Due to Covid, I’ve decided to take a shot at my writing goal. I have two books I am currently working on and I’m super excited to share about the one I have up for Pre-Order RIGHT NOW!! Squeal! I’m still in shock that I have made it to this point!

Have you always wanted to become an author?

No, it was never something I even thought about doing as I grew up. It took until High School I think for me to really even consider the idea of wanting to write. But it only recently that I discovered that you could publish through Amazon vs trying to do a traditional publisher. That was when I really decided I wanted to write. I got started as a PA to help out authors and to start creating a network that I could use to help myself when I decided to start writing.

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

I fell in love with the cover! And the story kind of built up from there. I have always loved elemental magic type books so the fact that I am now writing one is amazing!

What are you working on now?

I am working on my first book, The Spiritus Dagger, Book 1 in The Edge of Magic Series. I am about 10k words in and loving how it’s developing. My alpha reader seems to be enjoying what I come up with so it’s very encouraging!

Do you have any quirks while working?

I have a hard time shutting my brain off to write. I end up thinking about nine billion other things EXCEPT actually writing. So I have found that if I stick my headphones in and blast upbeat music that I can just focus on writing and drown out all my other thoughts.

What are your hopes for the future?

I am hoping that I can get a decent following from those that end up reading and liking this first book when it’s out that they stick with me as I continue. I want to be able to write full time at some point. My current job is super hard on my body and I want to be able to find something less abrasive and the idea of writing all the time is super exciting. It would also free me up to be able to start traveling with my mom when she’s ready to do that.

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

Be patient. I know it can be discouraging when you are first starting out but you will find readers. I’d also suggest finding other authors that you can lean on when you are feeling down. Self-publishing isn’t an easy thing and the more people you have that will cheer you on or celebrate small milestones will make a world of difference as you start or continue your journey!

Do you have anything to say to your followers?

THANK YOU! I really appreciate all of you who have pre-ordered or followed me. I know taking a chance on a newbie author without anything out yet can be hard so I really can’t say enough how much I APPRECIATE you! And hopefully, I won’t let you down!!
