Have you always wanted to become an author?

No. Originally, I started writing, just for the fun of it and because it gave me a safe space to express my emotions. When I was serious about becoming a published author, everyone told me that it would cost me thousands to publish my book. It wasn’t until I discovered the Indie writing community and KDP that I realized they were wrong and that I COULD publish. Plus, there were those few haters that told me I would never finish a book because I never stuck with anything I started. Well, two published books and one anthology later, I can safely say they were wrong. 

What was your inspiration for your current book/series? 

I’m working on two series simultaneously. 

The Hartfire Saga was born from a high school creative writing assignment. We were to create a mash up of two different stories and make our own. I chose A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court and Anne McCaffrey. If you’d like a giggle, the original essay from high school can be found at the end of The Ultimate Sacrifice (Book 1 of the Hartfire Saga). 

My gargoyle series originally started as an anthology/short story that took on a life of its own. Then, after a smart aleck remark by one of my beta readers, all the beta readers are now characters in the White Bluff clan. 

What are you working on now? 

Many, many books. I have a bad habit of bouncing from one story to another. If a scene pops into my head, I head to that document and write down that scene. 

The Hartfire Saga has taken on a life of its own. What was originally going to be a 2-book series currently has a total of nine books planned and may have more. 

In addition to the Hartfire Saga, I’m working on a series that I’ve dubbed “Gargoyles in Tulsa”. It’s currently a 12-book series, but it may also morph into a larger number.   

Do you have any quirks while working? 

I can never work on just one story at a time. At any given moment, there will be 10+ tabs open, each being worked on as an idea pops into my head. 

What are your hopes for the future? 

To keep publishing my books and to inspire others to chase their dreams. 

Do you have any advise for new authors about the publishing world? 

Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there and tell everyone how amazing your words are. Even if you haven’t published yet, tell everyone that they need to pay attention to you and that they’ll regret it if they don’t. 

Do you have anything to say to your followers? 

Thank you. I got a late start because I mistakenly believed I had to have a book to wave around before anyone would pay attention to me, but my fan base is growing and the support and love I get is amazing.
