Please give a warm welcome to author Taylor Spratt

Tell us a bit about yourself
I write under the penname Taylor Spratt but my real name is Tiffany. lol it almost feels like I am sailor moon, living in the shadows. I am from Kingston Jamaica and I am a registered attorney at law but honestly I didn’t like the law very much. I am too much of a wild one to live my entire life in a law firm so I mostly did to please my family.
For almost a decade I have been in love with romance novels, the fiery passion, the love the lust! I found it all so thrilling that from the moment I read my first romance novel I knew I wanted to write my own.

Have you always wanted to become an author?
Since I was a child I had lived in a fantasy world. While I should have been paying attention to my teachers in class, I was a million miles away dreaming up dangerous adventures with handsome heroes, and I was always the heroine in my fantasies. At that young age I had kind of had an idea that I wanted to write one day but I didn’t start writing till the ripe old age of 26.

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?
My current book series is called Poison Penitentiary and it is a paranormal prison series about a bad-ass fae who tries to break her brother out of jail with the help of four fiendishly sexy paranormal criminals. This was inspired by other books I read in the ‘Paranormal prison series’ and also it was inspired by my own anxiety riddled mind. There is danger around every corner and it can get a bit scary at times. For me this is just like life. Things often get too difficult for us to bare but this is when we truly learn what we are made off and are able to grow as people.
This is why I like to use fear as a catalyst for change in my characters, because my own fears are what help me to grow.

What are you working on now?
Right now I am working on the final book in the Poison Penitentiary series and it is going to be an amazing ending with tons of drama and steam!
Do you have any quirks while working?
A quirk I have while writing is that I really enjoy pacing the floor. I am not sure why but I will just pick the laptop up and start walking from one end of the room to the other typing away at the keys as I walk. It tends to calm me and release my creative energy faster.

What are your hopes for the future?
My hopes for the future is that I can one day become a writer for tv and movies. I see myself writing shows like the witcher and game of thrones.
I can’t say i would like to be famous though. I would prefer to be unknown but I would be thrilled if my work would one day be on the big screen.

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?
My advice on the publishing world is that if you really put in the work and hone your craft you can write books that people will be begging for. All it takes is some dedication and hard work. I self publish and there is a thriving community of independently published authors out there. You do not have to go the traditional way and wait for months just to hear if your book has been accepted or not. You can do it all yourself if you want to. That way no one can ever say ‘no’ to you. Never give up and keep on trying. I had to rewrite my first book 4 times before I published it and it was really worth it. Once you learn the writer’s craft it al gets so much easier.

Do you have anything to say to your followers?
Thank you so much for having me and reading about my journey. I would like to encourage you to be brave and believe in yourself. Many people tried to discourage me from writing, telling me that I would never make a dime and it would be a waste of time. Well now I am supporting myself with my writing income and it keeps getting better every month. If writing is your passion then go for it. Study the market and see what is popular in your chosen genre. This will help you to write a successful book. And if you would like to see my books, the links are below.
