Author Leann Ryans #interview

Please give a warm welcome to

Tell us a bit about yourself

I’m a wife and mother of three. I’ve always been an avid reader and I have a wide range of tastes though a good majority of what I read now is romance. I grew up on Anne McCaffery and Mercedes Lackey.
Nicky Charles was the first romance author I read, and I didn’t actually realize at the time that it was romance. It was a werewolf story, and I quickly devoured the entire series. It’s one of the few books I will read more than once.

Have you always wanted to become an author?

I used to say I wished I could do something with books, but being an author never even crossed my mind. I liked to read, but never really tried writing anything until The Omega Prize.

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

I’m currently working on the third book in my Alpha Barbarians series. The whole thing started from a prompt posted in Merel Pierce’s group “It was colder than she expected…”
I wrote a short story from that and posted it to Wattpad, and people kept begging me to continue it, so I would write a chapter between working on other projects. Once I hit about 8 chapters I decided I was going to have to go ahead and finish the story😅
Books two and three came because the men I introduced in the first book just had to have a story of their own, and the same with characters in the second. I don’t see it ending anytime soon!

Do you have any quirks while writing?

I don’t think I have any. I don’t use music like a lot of authors, and I don’t need to be alone to write or I’d have never finished anything 😅

What are your hopes for the future?

I hope to continue getting better. I’ve almost been published a year now, and I managed to put out 12 stories, though some were short. I’m just hoping to continue and hopefully get more reviews so I know which direction to go.

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

Go for it and don’t be afraid to ask questions! There are tons of us that are willing to help if you need it. It’s a lot more work than I expected at first, but that doesn’t mean you can’t do it all, and don’t let money hold you back. I published my first book without spending a cent, used the money I made from it to invest back into it and the next two and kept building from there.

Do you have anything to say to your readers?

My readers have no idea how much I appreciate them! I never expected to get this far. Even a year ago, I never thought I’d even sell 100 books. I can’t say how much each review means to me, and they have inspired me to never quit.
