Tell us a bit about yourself

I’ll start by saying I hate talking about myself, it’s harder than writing a blurb lol. I currently live in Iowa, though I’ve lived on the East coast and other parts of mid-America. I’m 26 and have a darling husband, and a really fat cat named Dickens. Like, 15 pounds fat cat. We love him though. We just had our 6th anniversary, if you can believe it, and tried for a few years for kiddos. Taking a break currently, but we want kids eventually. I grew up in the country, working on the farm, and now I love city life, though it’s noisy. Let’s see… I still don’t know my right from my left, I eat way too many Oreos and drink way too much Dr. Pepper. And that’s about it!

Have you always wanted to become an author?

I’ve always liked writing stories. My little sister and I would sit around and make up stories and games all the time when we were young. It was one of our favorite past times, and kept us busy for hours. Some of the books I have planned are based off of story ideas we had, so that’s pretty cool. In school I did really well in English and literature, and I wanted to write, but life happened.

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

I’ve got a few books in the works. One’s inspiration is from the cover (coming soon!), the other is a Red Riding Hood retelling that came from a dream. The last is a darker book that is inspired by “Handmaids Tale.”

Do you have any quirks while writing?

Quirks while writing… I like silence when I’m writing. I know most like music, but I like it quiet. And I have to have water with me.

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

Editors are the best friends you’ll ever have. And beyond that, no, because I’m really such a newb to! Find someone or some someone’s who can help you and give you advice.

What are your hopes for the future?

Hopes for the future. Well, in the book world, I hope to write 3-4 books this year, if not more. In other ways, I want to be a stay at home mom and wife that writes.
