Please give a warm welcome to

Tell us a bit about yourself

Hi! My name is Alice Wilde, and I’m a mother of a cat (or a furry dragon as she likes to sit on my shoulders). I started actually writing and finishing books a little over a year ago and have fallen in love with it, my only wish is that I was able to write more, better, and faster.

I used to work in the gaming industry in Asia as both a copyeditor and copywriter, but then switched to graphic design later as I thought that was my ultimate passion… don’t get me wrong, I still love it, but I think I just love anything creative where I can actually have some kind of control over the outcome. I say some because once I’m in a writing flow, my characters take over and I pretty much never know what’s going to happen next!

There’s never a wrong time for ice cream or hot chocolate.

Have you always wanted to become an author?

Yes and no. I loved writing when I was a kid, until someone told me I should be a writer…and then I didn’t want to write anymore (it was a weird phase in my life). So, when I finally started writing again, it came as a huge surprise to me! I haven’t looked back since.

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

Honestly, I had a bit of a hovering idea that wasn’t really clicking until I watched Lucifer (season 4) and Good Omens. There was something in those shows that made my story concept finally make sense to me, and that was that.

What are you working on now?

I have so many projects! I’m currently working on finishing the Hellfire Academy series, but I’ve already started planning and maybe writing here and there in several new series and standalones to be released later this year. I’m so excited about them, I can’t wait to announce them officially.

Do you have any quirks while writing?

Where do I even begin? Yes, I have to be in a flow to write. Sometimes this means keeping a very strict schedule of the exact same breakfast at the exact same time with the exact same song on loop for a week. Sometimes it means scrunching up on my couch in a terrible position for my back. Recently, it’s been a mug of hot chocolate with whipped cream, a video of someone chatting about sewing in the background, and a mini table on top of my desk to create a makeshift standing desk.

Authoring is weird.

What are your hopes for the future?

I would love to write full-time! I can’t quite afford to do that yet, but it’s all part of the process, and I believe hard work eventually pays off. Plus, I love my readers! They’ve been so encouraging as a whole. I actually have a lot of ideas that span across genres so ultimate I’d just like to get all my stories out to the world and hopefully bring some happiness to others.

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

Don’t give up. You’ll get better, faster, and more creative. Don’t let negative comments or reviews get you down, you’re only in competition with yourself. Just strive to make ever book better than the last, and enjoy the process! Now, go write.

Do you have anything to say to your readers?

I love you all! Seriously, some days it’s just knowing that people are out there enjoy my stories that keeps me going. Authors are human, too, and writing can be a lonely, long road, but it’s so worth it when you get that random review, comment, or message that your stories meant something to someone. The most we can hope to do is change the world one story at a time. Was that too cheesy?
