Tell us a bit about yourself

I’m Erica Woods and I’m a coffee addicted, animal obsessed, romance loving lunatic who lives in Norway with two furbabies and a hubs.

Have you always wanted to become an author?

I’ve had stories shaking around in my brain my entire life, and I’ve always loved to read and to write. But I never thought I’d be good enough at writing to become a “real” author. It seemed this impossible thing that would always be out of reach. Turns out I was wrong, and that just goes to show if there’s something you want, you have to go for it, because you never know what you’ll be able to accomplish unless you try.

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

Honestly, my inspiration was my characters. They popped into my mind one day and wouldn’t leave. The more I thought about them, the more obsessed I became, and after a while I had to sit down and write everything I knew about them. It started with their backstory, and grew to the ‘present’ time in Hunted.

What are you working on now?

Book 2 of the Feral Souls Trilogy

Do you have any quirks while writing?

I need absolute silence (unless I’m writing a sex scene). If anyone is talking or the tv is on or there’s music, I can’t write at all.

°

What are your hopes for the future?

I really want to be able to tell the stories of all the characters screaming in my head–to do them justice. And I want to create worlds that people can get lost in. I want to give them a reprieve from their lives, and allow them to feel emotions and experience things they may not have a chance to feel/do on their own due to illness or circumstances, anything really. And if my books helps just one person, I’ll consider that a huge success.

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

Write. Write every day, and when you’re working on your first draft, don’t be a perfectionist (that’s what’s editing is for). Think of drafting as a word vomit that builds the bare bones of your story. As long as those bones are there, you can always come back and fill in the muscles and flesh and skin later.

°

°

Do you have anything to say to your readers?

Thank you for reading my book! Hunted got so much support and love when it was released, and I’m just blown away. I never thought anyone would read what I wrote, never mind actually enjoy it. I’ll do my very best to continue to wrote books you enjoy, and I promise I’ll put my heart and soul into each and every one!
