Author Kayla Erickson #interview

Please give a warm welcome to

Tell us a bit about yourself

Not only am I a writer, I’m also a mom to 2 kids. I work full time in a credit union as a member service representative. I’ve also started to dabble in creating cups and t shirts. Maybe one day I’ll create them with sayings from my book or something.

Have you always wanted to become an author?

No. I never wanted to be an author. I always said I didn’t have the imagination for it. The complexity that goes into world building is intimidating. I didn’t think I could take words and make it into something.

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

I always wanted a superhero/villain reverse harem. In most stories the female main character is always the innocent one. And the male main character(s) are usually the bad boy. I wanted something different. I want her to be viewed as the bad guy (according to the male MC) I tried to talk a few authors into it. But they weren’t feeling it. So I wrote it myself!

What are you working on now?

I’ve slowly started writing an RH contemporary romance with some dark undertones. It all started out as a dream so I don’t know if it will go anywhere. But we will see!

Do you have any quirks while writing?

Not really. I just want people to leave me alone! Which isn’t always possible when you have a 3 and 7 year old.

What are your hopes for the future?

Writing wise? I hope to one day make international best selling author and big dreams? USAT. Those are big dreams though. Even if they never happen just having people recommend my books and consider me a favorite author is just as big of an honor.

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

Keep writing. No matter what push through. Push through the writers block. Even if you delete a scene a hundred times, keep going. The moment you hit publish, the frustration and doubtfulness will be worth it. Also, take the negative reviews with a grain of salt. Not everyone will like what you write. While some reviews can be helpful and better you as a writer, not all will.

Do you have anything to say to your readers?

Keep reading those books! If you love a book or even like it, leave a review. Make a post about it in readers groups. Even recommend it. You have no idea the smile that author will wear after reading it.
