Author J.R. Thorn #interview

Please give a warm welcome to

Tell us a bit about yourself

I’m a reverse harem author and I have an unhealthy obsession with magical tattoos—and hot guys who are assholes that need to be tamed!

Have you always wanted to become an author?

I’ve always written and been creative in many forms of art and had work published before I was 10. I always knew I’d be an author but I never knew it would become a life passion and a full-time career.

°

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

I didn’t enjoy my college experience. When I first saw that academy was making a comeback, I took it as an opportunity to tell a college story that I wanted to tell. Friends I wanted to make and challenges to overcome made it an entirely new college experience—plus there are demigods, vampires, and a plethora of other supernaturals that just make life better!

What are you working on now?

I have two pen names, so I’m working on another academy on my other name, which I won’t reveal here, and I am also working on the sequel to Fortune Academy as well. I typically have two projects going on at the same time and between my two pen names I publish a book a month. I stay busy

Do you have any quirks while writing?

I’m easily distracted so I have noise-canceling headphones and I need to face a wall to write so all I can see are my words. It’s like immersing myself in a creative bubble. I do have prints of my books on the wall to give me something to glance at though that inspires me to keep going!

°

°

What are your hopes for the future?

I’m having my first baby in 3 months, so I hope to be a good mother and that she will love books as much as I do! I also have a plan to maintain my writing schedule. I know other authors who have children and still publish a book a month, so if they can do it then I know I can too.

°

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

Read indie bestseller books ranked 10k or better in the amazon store and understand what makes them special, then put your own spin on that niche and make it even better.

°

°

Do you have anything to say to your readers?

I feel like the growth of my storytelling skill has improved in the past 8 books I’ve written in my Blood Stone Universe and I want to thank my Thornies who have been with me from the beginning, as well as the new Thornies who still enjoy my older works! Love all of you guys.
