Tell us a bit about yourself

I’m a USA Today bestselling author writing under two pen names. M. H. Soars for contemporary romance and Michelle Hercules for PNR, UF, Fantasy and SciFi romance. I was once a former avid reader/reviewer who decided to write a book about alien teens after a few glasses of mimosas. 🙂

Have you always wanted to become an author?

No. I’ve always liked to read since I was a kid, but growing up, I never believed that I could actually write a book. The limitations we give ourselves are scary. The indie movement was definitely a game changer for me.

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

Anime and manga for sure. I wanted to write an academy series featuring supernaturals, but divert a little from the usual vamp/werewolf/witch trifecta.

What are you working on now?

I’m working on two series. Gifted Academy which is a Paranormal High School Bully RH Romance, and Oz in Space which is a futuristic fantasy retelling of the Wizard of Oz. It’s also RH.

Do you have any quirks while writing?

I usually hide the word count of my word document. It helps me write faster.

What are your hopes for the future?

I want to see my books adapted to other formats (movie, TV, graphic novels).

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

Soak up as much information as they can about the craft and marketing, and write every day. But also be very cautious about service providers, especially the ones that claim easy fortune and quick results.

Do you have anything to say to your readers?

My newest release is Wicked Gods, the first book in the Gifted Academy series. It’s coming on Aug. 8th.
