Please give a warm welcome to author K.B. Wheelock

Tell us a bit about yourself

I am a mom of 6 kids from 3-21, married to a husband who loves gadgets, computers and electronics. When not writing, I am reading, sewing or gardening. Occasionally when I am willing to brave my outdated kitchen, I do enjoy cooking.

Have you always wanted to become an author?

I have always liked writing, felt I could express myself better. In middle and high school I wrote poetry (dang I wish I knew what happen to my 10th grade portfolio). In college, I took a creative writing class that really showed me how much I enjoy writing. I even won a short story award (which I now can’t find that piece either, though the book it was published in is somewhere).

In late 2018 I started to ARC and BETA read for some authors. In our conversations, I told them how I always wanted to write a book, but never thought I could. With their encouragement, I wrote Protect (renamed Protecting Rose) in 6 days while I was sick on the couch with strep.

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

The Prometheus Chronicles has been so much fun to write. I have a Pinterest file that I pin images for mythical creatures. One I found was a bunny/cat/moth/caterpillar type and I knew I would write a story about her at some point. Then while reading a book by Golden Angel, the whole story fell into place.

°

°

What are you working on now?

The Prometheus Cure is the sequel to The Prometheus Curse. It starts off almost right after The Prometheus Curse. We might shifters that should never be, but here they are and you just have to shake your head. Some examples are Abby, who is a flamingo/porcupine hybrid, or Josie the apephant (elephant/ape hybrid).

°

Do you have any quirks while writing?

While writing…um not really. I usually end up jumping from one tab to another, spending time on Facebook or wrangling children while I should be writing.

°

°

What are your hopes for the future?

Every author hopes that one book will be that one that hits the big time, can’t say I am any different. But I would love to make enough for a nice family vacation, to help with bills some.

°

°

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

Don’t be afraid of trying. You don’t know what you will be capable of if you don’t try. Ask advice from people who really care in the community and who have had success. But most important be true to yourself. At the end of the day, how you feel about what you are writing and what you are doing is the most important thing.

°

°

Do you have anything to say to your readers?

Without you, these would just be words on pages. For each person who reads one of my stories, who leaves a review, Thank you.
