Author Reese Copeland #interview

Please give a warm welcome to author Reese Copeland

Tell us a bit about yourself

Hey yall! I’m Reese! I’m 26 recently married and I live in Arkansas with my husband, my cranky cat and a suspiciously creaky house. I love gardening, cooking and collecting crystals. My favorite color is sage green and I’m allergic to avocados and I’m really sad about it lol. #RIPGuacamole.

Have you always wanted to become an author?

I have! I used to be really shy and ghostwrite for others for fear of being judged for my overactive imagination. I only recently got the confidence to step out of the shadows and I’m so excited!

°

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

So Winds of Change came about after way too many glasses of wine and a Lord of the Rings marathon. An I began thinking why should all the main characters be boys?! Look at Xena she’s a total badass and she never NEEDED a male lead for jack squat! The more I thought about it the madder I got lol and then I watched Harry Potter and snapped! Hermione is a total hero I would read a series based around her. So Bela and her story were created.

What are you working on now?

Oh man, soooo many things! Haha, I can never stick to just one. I’m working on an awesome cowrite for the summer with some of my writer besties. I’ve just launched a business to help new and established authors with their business/admin side of thing. It’s called Writers Guide to Freedom and I’m super excited about it! The next Hearts of Solara is on my radar and the outline is basically writing itself. I’ve also explored some spinoffs for the series! So please if you have ideas or suggestions let me know, I am always looking for inspiration.

Do you have any quirks while writing?

Ha! I feel like I’m a walking quirk. I do my best writing when House Hunters International is playing in the background, and I’ve got a great playlist blaring. I know that sounds odd and my husband is always like how can you possibly concentrate. But for some reason, it works! Like, I can’t hear myself think really so the words just flow out of me.

What are your hopes for the future?

I just want to be one person’s favorite author, that’s enough for me. If I can help the indie community to become more respected that’d be awesome too! I’m always looking forward to the future, that the best part about the future, there is always something more to look forward too!

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

Ooh ok, two things:

1. Write and create for you. I don’t care if the story has been done a bazillion times. If you have a story to tell..tell it! No one is going to tell it quite like you, so just write for you! Don’t worry about what the audience may say or your peers. You do you boo!

°

2. Take your time researching and vetting the members of your team, whether they be you PA. publisher, editor, ANYONE who has anything to do with your brand needs to be vetted by more than just word of mouth. If you don’t feel comfortable looking into business and people in depth, check out Writers Guide to Freedom. We’ll handle the real world while you create the story.

°

Do you have anything to say to your readers?

I am so grateful for each and every one of you! I hope that you’ve found a little of Vika’s bravery, Bela’s heart and Helena’s strength inside of you. Thank you for taking this ride with me, I cannot wait to see where we go next.
