Please give a warm welcome to author Rhiannon Lee
Tell us a bit about yourself
I live in West Virginia with my three young adult kiddos, our cat Thales, and my daughter’s rat babies. I’m currently going to college at the same time as two of my kids, which is both crazy and awesome. I’m a huge fantasy and sci-fi addict, and I love music and nature so much. I’m also a weird introvert, with a huge imagination.
Have you always wanted to become an author?
Yes! However, I thought I was terrible at it. It wasn’t until I started college and had a couple professors stop me to tell me I should take it seriously that the gears began turning in my head. At first, I thought I’d just write poetry, because words dance in my head like puzzle pieces, but then I realized that while fifty thousand word plus seems daunting, it’s totally doable. It was a process to get here, but now I can’t imagine not writing.
What was your inspiration for your current book/series?
There is such a duality in human nature, and often what people perceive and good or bad is based on their own perceptions. My Queen Lucy series is a play on that, and all the “what ifs”.
What are you working on now?
I’m working on book three, Hijinks and Demons, in the Queen Lucy series. I’m also almost finished with a new book that will be standalone but belong to a future set of standalones based on a singular dystopian/fantasy universe. There are a couple anthologies I’m writing novellas for, and also an awesome co-writing project that has a Fall release date.
Do you have any quirks while writing?
I have to have a cup of coffee. I don’t have to drink it, I just need it beside me like a lucky charm! Ha Ha!
What are your hopes for the future?
I hope to move more of my time into writing, and of course be able to support myself through my books and work.
Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?
Come out of the gate looking professional. Set up your Facebook groups, website, etc. Make it look like you know what you’re doing, even if you don’t. I feel that enables people who love your writing to connect with you right from the start, and that’s important to both you and them.
Do you have anything to say to your readers?
Oh my gosh, yes. Every time I think about a person actually taking the time to read my stories it makes my heart pitter patter with happiness. Out of all the books out there, they chose mine, and I’m beyond honored and humbled. I literally love every single one of you.
