Please give a warm welcome to author Melissa Adams

Tell us a bit about yourself.

I was born in Italy. I’m half English half Italian and grew up between the two countries. So that means I am bilingual with Italian.
I am a flight attendant by profession and I have lived in the UK, Italy, Germany and the US. I have an American husband who followed me back to Europe about five years ago when we decided to settle down permanently in the UK.
When and I don’t read and write, I love to cook, swim and take long walks with my two dogs.
I’m obsessed with 80s and 90s movies and music and I am especially fond of teen movies.
In fact, I mostly write new adult novels, probably because I still feel young at heart and I am fascinated with the endless possibilities one has during those years è, even though obviously I wish I knew then what I know now.

Have you always wanted to become an author?

I wrote my first novel when I was thirteen. It was a spy story called Intrigues and Contrabands. I even wrote a thriller when I was sixteen and then we made a movie out of it with my friends that summer. (All before digital cameras). So yeah, I have always wanted to write but I only took the plunge to do it seriously last summer. I am a flight attendant when I don’t write.

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

The inspiration was my summer’s at summer camp aa teen. An old boyfriend reached out to me last summer when he needed to talk. He was my first kiss and we reminisced a little via Facebook and at the time we had been caught in a little love triangle but he and the other guy were amazing to me and we have been friends for years to this day. So I started writing about it and a few weeks later, I had written the first book of Lake Emerald Chronicles: The First Summer. Obviously the whole story is made up but I took inspiration from those summers at camp…

What are you working on now?

I’m working on a new RH series. It’s my first paranormal series. It’s about witches but it has got a totally different angle than anything you traditionally read. The Title of the series is Dreams and book 1 is Dreaming Of You

Do you have any quirks while writing?

I write whenever I can and since I still fly full time, I sometimes have to do it in the crew room (when a flight is delayed). So I got used to being asked what I’m doing by the pilots (who always then proceed to ask me to read them a naughty scene, they can’t help it) or if I’m home, I write with my two Yorkshire terriers on my lap. I have a slight obsession with Yorkshire terriers and Norse gods

What are your hopes for the future?

My hopes for the future are to possibly fly only part time (hopefully within the next couple of years) and maybe one day write full time. But I only published my first book at the end of last summer, so I am still trying to get people to know my name and my work.

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

My advice is to write what you are comfortable with and don’t rush it, don’t push publish unless you know you wrote the story you wanted. And also, don’t do it like me. I pressed publish and I only created an author profile a week later. It’s smarter to make connections in the Facebook groups and so on before hand. I published and no one knew who I was. It’s slowly changing but I wish I had thought ahead.

Do you have anything to say to your readers?

What I say to my Readers is that my stories are about feelings and love and real life (Reverse Harem style). I try to create a world for you and show you the story as it unfolds in my mind, give you a picture, like a movie. I want you to feel every look, every kiss, every dilemma. And I like to put a little mystery twist in my stories too. So if I have done that for you, I have done what I set out for. And I love when I get messages from people who have read my books and have questions or want to talk about them.
