Tell us a bit about yourself

Hi! Thanks for interviewing me today. I’m Lainie and I write under L.A. Boruff. I write mostly reverse harem romances. Some paranormal, some contemporary. I’ve got 3 wild kids and I’ve been married for a very long time.

Have you always wanted to become an author?

No, actually. I know that’s very different from what you normally hear, but I’d always thought it was far too monumental a job. I’ve always been a voracious reader, though. In 2015 I discovered a series of books I love. Then I found a fan fiction group for that series. That group pushed me to write a fan fiction, as they do everyone. I did and it was fairly well received. I figured heck, why not try it? I wrote my first book, Supay, during NaNoWriMo in 2016 and haven’t stopped since.

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

My inspirations are Charlaine Harris, Anne Rice, Janet Evanovich

What are you working on now?

3 things! 😆 A RH PNR serial about vamps and lycans, a RH dystopian, and a RH YA about mermaids.

Do you have any quirks while writing?

Not really… I listen to music sometimes, sometimes I don’t.

What are your hopes for the future?

I love writing. If I could make a living on it… ugh that would be amazing.

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

Use an editor. If you can’t afford one, use betas. Ask questions. Lots and lots of questions. Authors love giving advice. Join writing groups, but not just that, join publishing groups.

Don’t trust the advice of people who have never published a book before. They mean well, but they haven’t done it before.

Do you have anything to say to your readers?

I’m amazed by my readers every day. Every time I get a message about someone loving my stories 🥰 it’s a punch of feels straight to the heart. My goal is to let people escape for a while. If I can relieve the pressures of life for just a few minutes, that means the world. So thanks for taking a chance on my books, and thanks for your support. 💜
