Author Autumn Reed #interview

Please give a warm welcome to author Autumn Reed

Tell us a bit about yourself.

Hello. I’m a lifelong bookworm who loves cloudy days, cute animals, and witty characters. I live in Dallas, Texas with my husband and fluffy little dog but long to reside somewhere with cool weather and lots of trees.

Have you always wanted to become an author?

Honestly? No.

I’ve never considered myself a creative person. And though I excelled at technical writing in school, I didn’t believe I would be any good at writing fiction. It wasn’t until I jumped into my first book that I realized I could do it. I just have to work really hard to get the words on the page. Every single chapter I write is a challenge, but it also comes with a profound sense of accomplishment.

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

The cover for Touch of Regret is actually what inspired The Collectors series. I’d had a vague notion of wanting to write a character who saw memories through touch, and when I first saw the cover, the storyline started falling into place. I imagined a woman who has been hiding from her life but doesn’t realize it until she meets other people with gifts like hers. And that’s how the story begins.

What are you working on now?

I’m currently writing the second book in The Collectors series, Touch of Wrath. If things go as planned, it will be released sometime in March.

Do you have any quirks while writing?

I always, always listen to music when writing. It’s the only way I have any hope of focusing. And I’m incredibly slow. I tend to perfect every word as I write, which is something I’m trying really hard to change.

What are your hopes for the future?

I hope to be able to sustain writing as a career. I want to improve with every book I write. I long to stop measuring myself against other people’s success and be proud of what I’ve accomplished.

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

Keep writing. My first few books hardly sold any copies. But, eventually, the series took off, and it turned into a fan favorite. Most indie authors don’t hit it out of the park with every book or series, so if you’re committed to being an author, keep trying.

Do you have anything to say to your fans?

Thank you for every kind word, positive review, supportive post, and encouraging message. You all are what keeps me going when I lose faith in myself and my work. You’re the best!
