Please give a warm welcome to author Trina Bates

Tell us a bit about yourself.

A little about myself? I’m from Washington state but now live in Texas with the hubs, three amazing little boys, three cats, and three dogs… I guess I have something with the number 3 lol.

Have you always wanted to become an author?

I started writing in high school but nothing ever really came of it. I got hooked again when I was in my mid-twenties and was reading nonstop YA (Haha shhh). I couldn’t stop the ideas! So I started writing them down as plot lines. The stories took years to come still.

My first series, The Hollows Awakening. It’s the first in the, Beyond the Veil series, and was a really daunting task to get through. I thought originally it would be like 12 books. Alas, it will only be four. I keep getting blocked and finding I’m wanting to write more characters and leave the ‘Mira’ shenanigans alone lol. So you got a lot about me lol, sorry!

What was your inspiration for your current book/series?

I actually had none! I knew I wanted a Valkyrie and RH (Reverse Harem) but the rest wasn’t there for me. I just sat down and started writing! The rest came with time and I think it worked out well!

What are you working on now?

Too many books! I have 2 offshoot series that are ‘Beyond the Veil Telling’ and an entirely new series that has, Centaurs, Immortals and other beings I hope you all enjoy!

Do you have any quirks while writing?

I don’t! I don’t think? Haha. I just write to suit me and enjoy the time spent, as much as I can.

What are your hopes for the future?

I just want to write for people and put out stories that others can relate to and enthrall themselves in. That’s really about it.

Do you have any advice for new authors about the publishing world?

So much! Okay: Never give up! It doesn’t matter if it’s the first chapter or hearing bad reviews, DO NOT GIVE UP. There might be 100 terrible reviews, but a single one that loved it. That’s what matters. It really is. Get the right editors, get a wonderful street team, I.E. editor, graphic designer, ARC team, BETA team and honest people that will help. Get the information about where you are going to publish well before you do it. DO NOT put anything up for pre-order unless you know it is done! And have fun! Don’t let the things I’ve said above bring you down. It will and you don’t need that. Your stories need to be read! Kepp with it and don’t give up.

Do you have anything to say to your fans?

I so do… You are all so amazing and the only reason I am still writing today is because of you. I love to hear that you enjoy my stories and want more. It keeps me going and makes me smile on the bad days when I want to quit!
